*Job Description:*

·         6+ years or equivalent combination of education and experience
will also be considered.

·         Strong analytical and trouble shooting skills. Good
organizational, prioritization and time management skills.

·         Strong written, verbal and presentation skills. Ability to
develop and deliver training.

·         High availability database design and management.

·         Performance tuning, optimization, sizing and implementing
database maintenance procedures

·         Data modeling tools and EDW design concepts. Database design and
tuning. Database back-up and recovery strategies.



*Job Desired:*

·         Designing and developing SQL database procedures, views,
functions, constraints, triggers and scripts in SQL, T-SQL, and PL/SQL

·         Advanced MS SQL server skills preferred.

·         Expertise with export, transform and load tools preferred.

·         BA/BS Computer Science or IS

·         Current MS SQL Server Cert

·         *Healthcare experience*



*Job Responsibilities: *

*Database development: 30%*

·         Builds databases, stored procedures and scripts in support of EDW
solutions designed by Data Warehouse Architects.

·         Supports development staff during the build of EDW.

·         Recommends database and fields naming conventions.

·         Assists in the development of database extracts.

·         Documents database models, scripts, stored procedures, promotion
procedures and system architecture.

·         Establishes development guidelines designed to maintain optimum
performance.

·         Advises Information Management Solutions Architect in the
creation of development guidelines.

·         Takes a new perspective on existing solutions, recommending new
procedures and processes to achieve results.



*Performance tuning and monitoring of databases: 30%*

·         Establishes guidelines for query structure to maintain adequate
performance.

·         Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the
performance, reliability and data integrity of the system.

·         Reviews queries for performance issues.

·         Identifies and performs routine maintenance to ensure high
performance.



*Back-up and recovery: 10%*

·         Recommends back-up schedule and strategy.

·         May set up and regularly monitors back-up as specified by SLA.

·         Adheres to enterprise disaster recovery policies and procedures.

·         Performs database restores from back-up.



*Database security and access: 10%*

·         Researches and recommends security and data access strategies.

·         Configures user database access based on approved policy, user
roles and responsibilities.

·         Works with Security and Internal Audit to comply with corporate
security standards.

·         Audits data access as scheduled or requested.



*Capacity planning: 10%*

·         Performs 5 year capacity planning for hardware and software in
support of EDW initiatives.

·         Assesses impact of and recommends solutions based on current and
future data volume needs.

·         Allocates and reallocates database resources.

·         Designs database system architecture to meet performance needs.

·         Researches and recommends database strategies to management.

·         Assesses and recommends vendor tools for enterprise databases.



*Supports developed applications: 10%*

·         Adheres to all Enterprise Change Management (ECM) procedures per
IS policy.

·         Makes configuration upgrades.

·         Identifies impact of enhancement requests.

·         Assists customers to identify and resolve problems.

·         Escalation point for complex issues.

·         Provides formal or informal training to customers.

·         Facilitates timely resolutions of database defects and issues.

·         Develops procedures under approved policy structure.

·         Provides users with highest quality service and system expertise
and escalates issues appropriately.

·         May analyze, create and deliver reports as assigned.
