[Savannah-register-public] [task #10600] Submission of Antony P Joseph
Update of task #10600 (project administration): Status:None = In Progress Assigned to:None = alexfernandez ___ Follow-up Comment #1: Hi Antony, I am reviewing your submission on behalf of Savannah, sorry for the delay. There are a few issues with it: * The project is called Antony P Joseph, but the tarball contains a directory FormulaPaintApp. I assume that you wanted to call the project FormulaPaintApp. I can change this myself. * The file formula.html doesn't have the license header. You can place it as an HTML comment; alternatively you can include a README file and list filename and license there for any files where it is not practical to include the header. * The License file should contain the whole GPLv3 text, and not just the license header. * A README file is anyway handy for other users. * The top directory is usually called with the project name and version, in your case: FormulaPaintApp-0.01, just like the tarball. These last two points are not requirements but just recommendations. Can you upload a new tarball (attaching it to the submission) so we can continue the review process? [Savannah-register-public] [task #10602] Submission of Women's Caucus
Update of task #10602 (project administration): Status:None = In Progress Assigned to:None = alexfernandez ___ Follow-up Comment #1: Hi Deborah, I am reviewing your submission on behalf of Savannah, sorry for the delay. I don't know what to do with this project: there is no code, no files and no tarball. However it is an FSF initiative and I guess that the Women's Caucus has some uses for a source code repository and/or a homepage. Could you (or someone from the FSF) enlighten us? Thanks! Alex. ___ Reply to this item at: http://savannah.gnu.org/task/?10602 ___ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/

Best to treat this like a user group, I think. Ah, I had not met a submission for a user group yet. There will be lists, homepage, possible source code at some point. Fine. It makes sense now. It should be on nongnu.org however. I don't have the option in the menu: only non-GNU software and documentation, but for groups only GUG. What should I do, leave it as is? Alex.

[Savannah-register-public] [task #10603] Submission of HeliosBot
Update of task #10603 (project administration): Status:None = In Progress Assigned to:None = alexfernandez ___ Follow-up Comment #1: Hi iman, I am reviewing your submission on behalf of Savannah, sorry for the delay. There are a few issues with it: * You speak about open source in the project description, and this is directly against the [https://savannah.gnu.org/register/requirements.php hosting requirements. * There is an apparent incompatibility between the license of helios-bot (GPLv3) and that of h2 (EPL/MPL): neither of Eclipse or Mozilla public licenses are compatible with the GPL http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#GPLIncompatibleLicenses. It is doubtful if the connection between the software and the database is indeed linking or not, anyway, as the connection seems to be done a Java standard interface. * Also, you should ensure that helios-bot works fine with one of the free Java implementations such as IcedTea. * The package could use a README file but that is not required. Could you upload a new tarball which solves these issues? Thanks! ___ Reply to this item at: http://savannah.gnu.org/task/?10603 ___ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/
Re: [Savannah-register-public] Re: [task #10602] Submission of Women's Caucus
Best to treat this like a user group, I think. There will be lists, homepage, possible source code at some point. These two statements are conflicting ... Alex, just go ahead and approve it as nongnu.
[Savannah-register-public] [task #10496] Submission of Quagga Routing Software
Follow-up Comment #4, task #10496 (project administration): Hi, Paul responded on the savannah-register-public mailing list, so I am including his replies here and answering too. * You speak about Linux, but we prefer that you use GNU/Linux: it gives credit to the GNU project besides the Linux kernel. Read the Hosting requirements https://savannah.gnu.org/register/requirements.php for more details. _Oops, yes._ * Some documentation files (NEWS, README, Changelog...) lack the required GPL header. _The ChangeLog file is deprecated iirc. We'll remove it. For stuff like a README file, I'm not eniterly sure it makes sense to add a GPL header - it would detract from the immediacy of the content. Further, I do not anticipate ever caring about copyright infringement on such files, and anyway it should already be clear from the COPYING file that these are GPLed (the header is added to more important files, like C source, just to ensure readers can't miss the fact)._ For the README file, you can always add the license header at the bottom so as to keep it readable. Keep in mind that we have to worry not only about copyright infringement, but also about protecting all users of the package. Having clear copyright assignments helps make the status of each file legally sound. * There are a few PNG files in there, but it's not clear where they come from. The best solution is usually to state in the README or some similar file the license for each one. _You're probably looking at a 'make dist' tarball, and the PNGs come from the 'Dia' files in the same directory, I think._ Probably, so these aren't needed? In this case they can just be removed safely, right? * Please upload a new tarball with these issues solved, and let us know when it's ready for a new review, OK? _Ok, that will take a week or so - am on holidays. ;)_ Good for you, the task will be left open. * Finally, you say that Quagga is a fork of GNU Zebra; while forks are sometimes necessary (and GNU Zebra seems to have stopped development in 2005), it might be better to help the original package move along. Have you contacted the authors of GNU Zebra, and/or the GNU project, to see if they would like some contributors? _Yes we did. We were in contact with RMS and the FSF about this even before the fork - which was quite a while ago. The original GNU project is mostly dead in terms of community and development, relative to Quagga. Unfortunately, they were not willing to hand the project on._ _As per Karl, things just are as they are in this regard._ That is fine then. _I'll try address your issues soon. I will probably submit a tarfile without the auto-generated bits next time (maintainer clean kind of thing)._ If you think this can take too long you are free to close this task and resubmit when you are ready; whatever suits you better. ___ Reply to this item at: http://savannah.gnu.org/task/?10496 ___ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/
[Savannah-register-public] [task #10602] Submission of Women's Caucus
Update of task #10602 (project administration): Status: In Progress = Done Open/Closed:Open = Closed ___ Follow-up Comment #2: Hi again, After some discussion in the savannah-register-public mailing list (which can be followed here http://www.mail-archive.com/savannah-register-public@gnu.org/msg14487.html), I am approving the submission as a non-GNU project instead of as a GUG. This way it may use the Savannah facilities as the project owners see fit, and at the same time there will be no unnecessary delays. Thanks for your patience, and enjoy your stay in Savannah! ___ Reply to this item at: http://savannah.gnu.org/task/?10602 ___ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/
