2006-03-14 Thread Cat Corley
I agree about them not letting their guard down. Remember though,
Baltar is insane and he ordered everyone on the planet. One year after
9/11 we were still pretty intense. Just think if our entire world was
destroyed, I don't think that I'd want to be on a planet where Cylons
*may* find us.

I'm of mixed minds about this one - the part of me that wants
exciting change in, well, just about all of my serial entertainment,
went kewl. The rabid fanboy in me felt like the finale was shark-
jumping (I would have more easliy accepted it if I knew it was a
*series* finale rather than a season finale, i.e. all this has
happened before and all this will happen again) in that it seemed
to change the focus of the show from The search for Earth to The
escape from New Caprica

I'll still be there in October to see where they're going with this
(guess that puts me squarely into the kewl faction), but I think
they've painted themselves into a very tight corner.

The part I liked the most? The show's exploring what happens when
you elect a popular person who is absolutely unsuited to the office
of President, kinda an art mirroring life kinda thing, with people
voting thier fears hopes rather than reality. I also liked the
little touches like Cally and Cheif, Starbuck and Anders, Saul and
Ellen - and the old man hat ROFL! - and Roslin returning to being a
teacher.

Re: [scifinoir2] Re: BG season finale

2006-03-13 Thread Martin Pratt
Had that thought, too Felt as though it was written at four-thirty Friday,
filmed at six, edited at nine-forty. It ping-ponged so much that I'm still
trying to put a lid on it. A friend of mine in Canada is a huge fan, but
they're not quite halfway through Season One up there. Glad she doesn't ask for
spoilers, because she'd be mighty hosed on this.

I don't see how Adama would allow Baltar to decimate the ships' crews so,
even if the Cylons had held to their word that they were gone. I know, Adama
has respect for the rule of law, but not at the cost of Fleet security, which
is his paramount responsibility. I am kinda intrigued to know exactly what
estranged Lee and Kara. From the earlier bit, I can see that Lee might have
been a tad jealous of Anders, but Lee's also snarking around with Anastasia
(love that name!) and he had the call girl on the side. But I'm sure you ladies
reading know all about those pig-dog menfolk. Did I miss the bit in an earlier
ep, in which Baltar gave Nuber Six a nuke, which she later used to destroy
Cloud Nine and those other four ships? Or was that just a bit of filler stuck
in during the previews? I know that they did that in between the eps where Fisk
was garroted and Garner was given command of The Beast (love those ekes,
too), when they had the Admiral's voice saying that Garner was the best
of the bunch left to take The Beast. Okay, I'm done. (holds out baton)
