[scots-l] New Fiddler's Companion
I'm please to announce that the new, November 2000, edition of the Fiddler's Companion is now on-line at Ceolas at http://www.ceolas.org/tunes/fc. This edition reflects nearly two addtional years of work on the index since the last on-line edition, and includes much additional, corrected and enhanced information regarding traditional tunes from many genres and styles. Of special note is the addition of abc notation to thousands of tunes, including those from collections such as O'Neill's (DMI), Athole, Skye, Northumbrian Minstrelsy, Chappell, Glen and others. I am particularly please to be able to inform that Bill Black has allowed me to include his abc's from his outstanding collection "Music's the Very Best Thing: The Bill Black Irish Tune Book, Vol. 1." As always, I am grateful to those many from the lists who have graciously provided their expertise and information, and those who have allowed me to post their abc's. The Fiddler's Companion is also available for purchase in convenient CD-ROM format (Holiday gift-shoppers please take note--fhe CD makes a great present for that special trad.-playing friend!). The same version as the latest on-line index, the CD-ROM includes graphics and formating not included in the web-based index, making it even more useful and easy to use. Please send inquiries off-list to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks. Re: [scots-l] Re: Music writing programs
There seem to be a number of programs on the market which produce quite execrable music printing (my pet hate is the bar lines all above one another straight down the page!) If you're typesetting Highland pipe music that layout is exactly what you want. === http://www.purr.demon.co.uk/jack/ === Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html
