Heh. Maybe what we should do is everyone take note of the
tradtunes mailing list, which is officially dedicated to
traditional tunes from anywhere and everywhere. This tune
should have been posted there. The list is at:

  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tradtunes/

Unfortunately it has a preposterous signup form which simply
doesn't work on my browser - I presume they don't want people
who use Netscape on old Macs.

Is there a gateway to it that uses an ordinary majordomo or
listserv interface?

Re: [scots-l] Reel ID Please

2002-01-04 Thread Kate Dunlay or David Greenberg

I'm not having much luck getting a reply these days - is anybody out
there? However, I'll try again. Does anyone know what this tune is?

No idea. Do you have some project going with these tunes you have been
asking about?

Kate Dunlay asked:

...Do you have some project going with these tunes you have been

I'm interested in tunes which are played but not found in the dusty
books. At the moment I'm listening to records and noting tunes which I
can't find in the tune collections, but many of them don't have names,
or have names which are unknown. I'm asking anyone there if they
recognise them so that I can apply titles if appropriate. Perhaps I
should adopt the Irish convention: Addie Harper's No.6 and so on?

I think the last two tunes - the jig and the reel - do not fall into
this category, as I'm pretty sure they're more well known than others
I've found, so in that case I expected people to say Och yes, that's
__, but I think the list is very very quiet just now.

Also I like to share tunes.
