Yes, that is why I wrap my mobile in baking foil and never use the same
SIM more than once.

AHA! Now no one can use their evil rays to track the location of my
device, sending and receiving data.. Oh, wait...

Watch out for the MiB,
Sean.

P.S. So to take this thread back on-topic, who else in the
Glasgow/Edinburgh locus is interested in a bulk purchase of Neos in the
near future? Are there enough?

It is a mobile phone/internet device. All the specifications are open,
from the design of the casing to the software running the GPS chip. It's
aimed mainly at those of us that like that sort of thing, and would be
willing to tinker. Although they are hoping it will be mass-market ready
too.

As for the govt spying on you... well that's up to you and and your
network provider. Best ask them. The phone is just a passive component
in that game.

Because I'm not a full-on Linux-wallah (to say the least) I just would like to
know, is the Free Runner a phone/mobile internet device ? (I know that may be a

Well I'd be interested in that, I'd already signed the Hantslug

bulkbuy listbut

naturally it would be easier to get the phone from someone in

Glasgow/Edinburgh. Are there enough people in the area for a 12-pack?

[Scottish] Openmoko FreeRunner

2008-05-25 Thread Kyle Gordon
As some may have noticed, the FreeRunner is due to be released very
soon. Apparently it's currently in the manufacturing stage and will cost
$399 (http://lists.openmoko.org/pipermail/community/2008-April/015080.html)

Group purchases are possible, if anyone is interested then please let's
get together. There's a wiki page at
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/GroupSales with some folks in Edinburgh
already listed at http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/GroupSales#Edinburgh
