Re: [sdre-l]: E.E. Cummings and Jeremy Enigk
Becky, Hey, I've noticed the simularities also between E.E. Cummings and Jeremy's style of writting lyrics, which to me are much like poetry. I have the complete E.E. Cummings edition too. Anyway's, I just wanted to let you know you aren't the only one who thinks that. [sdre-l]: list questions

He's also had computer problems as of late. I can't say why the site hasn't been updated except for maybe the following - nothing's going on? No tours, etc, the only news-worthy thing I would think would be the entire Joe Bass news, and even that might be less important if Joe continues to tour with them (i.e. isn't involved in recording but is involved in playing on the road, as he hinted in his letter (I think)) > > Since when has the list been moderated? I'm not sure moderation is really necessary, or a > good thing > It was moderated a while back, just no announcement was ever made about it. The original moderator didn't have time to moderate it, which was the reason for the long time between posts over the last few months. I took over moderating more or less after the list owner (Adam Dinwiddie) and Brian agreed to it. As to it being a good thing, you may not appreciate having someone watching over your posts, but I'm sure you also don't appreciate getting all the "please unsubscribe me" posts as well, which you don't under a moderator. So far I'd say if you broke up everythign talked about since the list started up again into topics, "Unsubscribe" would have the most messages...I adhere to list guidelines for moderation - you'll get what you signed up for when you subscribed to this list, and no other extraneous messages. [sdre-l]: [sdre-l] list questions
I have a couple of questions: What happened to Brian? The site hasn't been updated for a long time, and he hasn't posted to the list since it came back up. Since when has the list been moderated? Was moderation a response to the limp bizkit/korn kiddies? I'm not sure moderation is really necessary, or a good thing -Brian
Re: [sdre-l]:
I didnt really get into SDRE untill a few months ago when a friend sent me an mp3 of 47. The thing was I always knew of them since like around 1994 I guess, I didnt really get into them because I was turned off by the name. I dont know, I kind of regret not getting into them back then, but I was just dumb and 16. It's funny how I did the same thing to Pavement. I love SDRE and Pavement now. I purchased HIFTBSO after xmas and cant stop listening to it. Better late then never eh? I tried to get my radio station to play In Circles but they insist on playing Korn, Limp Bizkit, and countless other crappy bands that rule the top 40 now a days. It's weird I was driving with my father somewhere and I made a SDRE tape of songs to listen to while I am driving and he commented on how Jeremy Enigk sounds like John Lennon, and I told him that I read somwhere that Jeremy practices singing like Lennon sometimes. He thought that was pretty cool and I thought it was cool how my dad noticed it. My dad is a diehard Beatles fan. [sdre-l]: interesting discovery
hey, i was tooling around cdnow looking at reviews and stuff, so i looked up ROTFQ just to see how the reviews were because i had never read any critics reviews of it. anyway i looked up jeremy enigk and it turns out abegail anne is also on a soundtrack to a movie called "dreams with the fishes" from 1997 i thought that was pretty odd, ive never heard of the movie or the soundtrack i was kinda surprised it had never been mentioned. i wonder if the song is in the movie somewhere, kinda like how "8" was never in batman forever but on the soundtrack. but it also has "river man" by nick drake on it and a few other good songs, just wondering if anyone knows whats up with this? tim

[sdre-l]: more on the new SDRE Audio Archive
ok this is going well. just so you all know the limit of the idrive is about 80M so we will have to be pretty picky about what stays. please restrict uploads to items not on diary, lp2, HIFTBSO, live, live video or ROTFQ. i think this should be obvious but whatever, it needed to be said. also please try to only upload whole songs, especially if its just the audio. parts of songs in video format i guess are okay. there are some partial songs up now. if someone uploads the whole song then the partials can be erased. hint hint. there's some mp2s on there that are sort of confusing. idrive identifies them as video files, but it seems that they're only audio. if possible please stick to mp3s. they just plain sound better. there is an mp3 of lewis hollow up. whoever uploaded it please let me know if its a version other than the album version. if it is it stays and it should be marked as demo or live or whatever. if it is the album version it will be erased. thanks to everyone who uploaded. personally i would like to see the other unreleased jeremy songs uploaded. there are a few that i havent heard yet. your sdreaa dictator, dane [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.idrive.com/brochure (click sdreaa) FREE Christian Email SaintMail.NET - The Internet Address Of Christians "...when He comes to be glorified in His saints on that day." http://www.saintmail.net

[sdre-l]: sunny day audio archive... hiatus
hey folks... haven't been checking out the list much of late. glad everything is rolling again. my wonderful girlfriend found the sdre/stt 7" and gave it to me for christmas... i'm a lucky boy. i also got the sdre video for christmas (still don't have the live cd or vinyl) and i think it's okay. the audio/video desynch is terrible, though. all that stuff about joe not being in the band and jeremy playing bass is totally true. you don't see joe in pictures because he never signed one contract... and thus is not a member of the band. i've seen a lot of posts about the *defunct* sunny day audio archive. well... the server to which i moved it went down, so once again (this is the third time) i must find a place to host this mutha'. if anyone has any place that could host a few hundred megabytes of (rare/live/legal -- NOT commercially available) sunny day audio, e-mail me. you guys sharing rare sunny day stuff on ftp servers and napster make me very happy. you guys sharing sunny day album tracks on ftp servers and napster make me sick. as far as the lp4 demo... yes, such a thing exists (see the official page news). it's not a demo for record labels, it's a demo for studios. time bomb is owned (or at least distributes through) bmg... you will be able to find the next sdre record at all the lame record stores. believe me... i can find both mike ness (time bomb artist) records at the fred meyer (grocery/home/electronics store) at which i work. and we don't stock ANYTHING. Wow you guys are way more friendly than most on conventional message boards. I HAVE GOOSE BUMPS AS WE SPEAK! I'm so psyched i finally found Diary and the LP (pink album) today. *sigh* I'm in heaven. I like them more than hiftbso (i just realized a couple minutes ago what HiFTBSO meant sorry... i'm blonde... you'll have to excuse me.. i'm a little slow sometimes ) SDRE makes me feel so emotional. I'm serious. You know good music when it gives you goose bumps every time you hear it... not only the first time, but every time. Okay, anyway, i should also mention that i tend to ramble. How long have you all been into SDRE? They're brilliant and anyone who says they aren't can.. well anyway, nice meeting guys. Its been fun so far.
