Re: [sdre-l]: fire theft last night in Seattle

2003-01-27 Thread Richard Tonge
i hope they get signed (tho for integrities sake, not to a major) just so
theres an album soon and they get out of the US (one of sdre's major
problems) to support the album. i saw a few posts on the MB recording
recordings of the 2 shows, tho if anyone does have a decent recording and
wants to trade please email me and check out www.tapetrader.com/rjtonge .
cheers,

r/.

(looking forward to tft in japan)

So... I was at the show last night.

it rocked. I was sort of expecting SDRE-Dan = SDRE - Rock, but such is not
the
case.

Fire Theft sounds like a very logical follow-up to the rising tide.

If any of you can go, go to see them in Hollywood this week.

question for the group --- Hollywood/L.A. seems to be an indie wasteland.
there
aren't too many indie bands I've heard of that are there.

However, LA is mecca for the recording industry i.e. corporate labels.
Many
bands move to LA to make it with the recording industry.

if the fire theft is only playing 2 shows (right now -- rumors of them
playing
SXSW are flying around) -- one in their hometown, and one in the hometown
of all
the big labels... Does that indicate to you that the fire theft are on the
verge
of signing to a major?

Here's hoping that's not the case,
Alex Carmichael, defrockd loser

RE: [sdre-l]: lost Sunny Day song? Holiday?

2002-11-27 Thread Richard Tonge
is it online? any place i can get hold of a copy? btw, when is the next tft
song going to be online? i hope its as awesome as the last.

r/.

That was something they recorded for The Rising Tide that never made it on
the album. I'm not sure what the title is, if it has one.

Subject: [sdre-l]: lost Sunny Day song? Holiday?

my friend jim played me this mp3 by Sunny Day Real
Estate that wasn't released on any album, he said it
was called Holiday but I don't think it had a real
official name or anything.

some of the lyrics were Live inside a daydream...
thats' the only line that sticks out to me.

does anyone know anything about this song? more
specficially, what the real lyrics are?!!! thank you!

[sdre-l]: timebomb and europe

2001-01-29 Thread Richard Tonge

if you saw the size of the venues sunny day were booked to play in europe
they only held on average about 400-450 people. that's hardly u2 sized is
it. i agree with european distribution tho- i had to get trt on import and
it's hardly ever seen in big chain stores. i didn't see it reviewed by any
mags either, in fact nme aren't aware they reformed.

rich

Ok guys. Thanks to everyone who replied about my email about Time Bomb.

Please accept my excuses about the things I said, my post wasn't clear
enough. I'm talking about Europe only, I've never been in USA, so I can
talk only about what I see every day here. I know a lot of people involved
in independent music (I am kinda involved in that whole thing too) and I
was just pointing out what my eyes can witness here. Then again, I haven't
seen much about TRT on webzines, etc. So either I'm blind, or Time Bomb
just doesn't care about those not-so-good pseudo-mags.

Well, enough said. SDRE must come in Europe very soon, and they should stop
thinking they will fill stadiums on their first european tour. They just
ask too much money for a lot of independent venues compared to their actual
relatively low popularity in Europe (which is I guess one of the reasons
why they cancelled many of their imaginary european tours so far) so they'd
better move their asses to get a little bit more distribution here, and
also realise that they're not U2 yet.

Too much ambition kills ambition. (ahah, that sounds moralist)

[sdre-l]: help! uk trt release

2000-06-17 Thread Richard Tonge

i was hoping someone can help me with this: the uk release of trt seems to
be july cos the distributors are slow. all new cds are released on a monday
so perhaps the tuesday date has caused confusion? if anyone knows the date
or a place in manchester or newcastle or thereabouts which will have it in
please let me know. the uni computers won't let me download napster so i've
been limited to the stuff on the timebomb site. thanks,

Re: [sdre-l]: SDRE: LA Listening Party at Spaceland

2000-06-04 Thread Richard Tonge

wow. at last it appears that weezer are alive. has anyone got a little more
info on this cos no-one here (the uk) seems to have heard a thing. thanks.
also, if you order trt on hmv.ca how long does it take to ship? i'm
contemplating getting it early.

rich

Does anyone know more details about this event on Tuesday? Like, what time
does it start? The newspaper listing has the Weezer side-band "Special
Goodness" playing that night (which is a good reason in itself to go), but
I
don't know whether the listening party is before/during/or after...

-Tim-

ps (o/s)- If there are any Weezer fans on the list, they are playing a
secret show as "Goat Punishment" at Spaceland on the 22nd...

[sdre-l]: ansigod, websites

2000-05-11 Thread Richard Tonge

i suppose this is really to ansigod or anyone who knows him: is his site
going to be started up again following the take over of sdre.com by artist
direct. i reckon it was the best sdre site online although the one at
nexus.com is pretty awesome. i need to be kept up to date officially and
unofficially cos i hear nothing of sunny day in the uk. they don't even play
here. ah well. many thanks,
richard.

[sdre-l]: sdre tour dates

2000-03-05 Thread Richard Tonge

ok, this is only brief and only relates to european fans- i contacted
timebomb regarding these sketchy tour dates in the hope that sunny day may
make their first trip to england to play. the reply was short but said that
europe is definitely in the plans for the tour to support the new album. at
last sunny day fans outside america get recognised! if anyone has more info
than this please post it, thanks,
rich
