Also, did you ever stop to think that some SDRE and DMB fans are one in the
same? Maybe it's just me here, but I love them both.

Granted, you have a point here, but on yet another flip side of the coin,
we'll suddenly be paying $30 or $40 for a concert ticket. Not that I
wouldn't pay that much to see them...but in a world of overinflated concert
ticket prices, not paying an arm and a leg to see what is in my opinion one
of the greatest bands of all time is an added bonus in my book. I paid $13
for a ticket to see them this tour!!! Not only that, but we can't even
rest assured that our beloved boys would be getting plenty of that extra
$$$. As a "no-name" act in the eyes of the mainstream crowd, they'd be
getting a mere pittence in terms of cash AND of crowd. Instead of being
somewhere that everyone in the place knows and loves their music, they'd be
in a place where most of the people there hadn't ever heard of them...and
most of those people would just be waiting for Dave to take the stage.

For the sake of SDRE and all who know and love them, I really hope this
doesn't happen.

scoping outsdre tour GOOD...sdre not tour BAD

if SDRE was opening for hansen, I'd go see SDRE then leave.

2000-08-15 Thread bakesale

i think you're being a bit too optimistic here...

the point is not that we have as much a chance of seeing them as they
(the dave matthews fans) do -- the point is that we have a lot LESS of
a chance of seeing them if they tour with dave matthews, than if they
headlined their own tour, or toured with a smaller band.

also... ok, i'm not a complete dmb hater, but i really don't like the
idea of sunny day touring with them. not to be a complete snob, but
there are A LOT of kids in my school (er, you know, the abercrombie
kids) who like dave matthews, and i can't imagine them appreciating
sunny day, and i don't know if i'd want them to.

but i know i'm being harsh and stereotyping a lot here, and so if
that's what the band wants to do, then that's what they'll have to do.
i can understand how they want to break out to a larger audience, but
i just don't think this is the right band to do it with...

but then again, i think i read somewhere in the chat transcript that
the dmb tour is not too likely to happen. *crosses fingers*

well...we have as much of a chance of seing them as they do...think about
it...we get our tickets from the same place, we'll have to wait in the
same lines. the ratio of dmb/sdre fans is statistically insignificant.

on the other side of this coin...it would be awesome if this led to a vast
increase of SDRE fans.
