don't be so sensitive. i agree that the low level volumes are quite beautiful and ambitious and i applaud the band for that. but it's certainly worth noting that they didn't spring forth fully formed, that they were once sdre fanatics that followed in their idols footsteps a bit tooclose. you can all say what you may about the origins of their previous name, how they dressed, etc. that's fine. but you cannot deny that they, along with every other band that has an "emo-ish" sound, would evenexist as they do were it not for sunny day real estate. if you question that claim, then i question your grasp on the powerof sunny day's music. From: "Doug Patterson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

The Appleseed Cast had their name as a SDRE lyric, they don't steal SDRE lyrics as their own. And SDRE wasn't the first band to wear suits for shows. The Appleseed Cast are actually a great band, and far from a tribute band. Especially on their Low Level Owl cds

even better is the appleseed cast. they were originally called, "december's tragic drive." they even played gigs all dressed up in suits like sunny day did for the diary-era promo photo. hard to be more of a sdre tribute band than that.

true about appleseed cast at the beginningbut if you listen to them
now...VERY different direction. their first album definitely made me think
of sdre, but since then, they've really gone and done their own thing. and
very well at that, imho. :)

they were called that because one of their friends passed away from a car wreck in
december. they changed it when they realized it was a sdre lyric, but it was still a
fitting name, i thought. appleseed cast fucking rocks :)

i think it's even better when other bands steal sdre's lyrics. for instance: the glassjaw's everything yu ever wanted to know about silence, daryl says "the waiting could crushyour heart" in hurting and shoving, and on diary jeremy says "the waiting could crush my heart"

i'm guessing it was intentional, and i've always assumed it to be implied
that everyone noticed that. i know i certainly did, instantly. (which is not
an attempt at making any less of your claim of realizing it now.)

in pillars, jeremy mentions walking and talking in circles. i've always
thought these two things to be along the same lines of just blatant - but
still somehow very kickass - references to old songs.

wow. i think i was about 3 when i last posted to this list. this is probably
a good thing.

has anyone else noticed that jeremy sings fairly
similar lines, very similar WAYS on two different
songs?

j'nuh from LP2:
call me something at all this time

guitar and video games from How it Feels:
tell me something you'd tell a fool

reading them, they're not terribly similar looking,
but if you listen to them both, they sound so freakin'
similar! didn't jeremy or the other band members
notice this when they recorded GVG?!

please tell me somebody else has thought of this! -earl

actually, there is an even better one. He uses some of the exact same
lines on an lp2 song that he used later on 'call me steam'. call me the
sand yadda yadda yadda then something about strange preomenade with
eyes closed. i can't even think of the song, but listen and see. kind
of cool.
