well whether people on the list would like that or not, it's sdre related by
some six degrees kinda thing i'm sure. john vanderslice is/was the singer
for a band called MK Ultra, which opened some shows for sunny day real
estate back during winter of 1999. mk ultra is alright, not exactly my fave,
but they're pretty solid. better live than on cd in my opinion. and as far
as i know, john vanderslice is, like the rest of the band, from somewhere in
california (i THINK, don't quote me on that, cuz i'm just goin from memory
here).
as for the whole religious thing, i agree with the people who have said that
it may or may not be religious. music is great because of it's capacity to
mean different things to different people. i'm somewhat of a songwriter (not
a great one or anything, mind you), and i've had people read my lyrics and
say "hey, that totally relates to me in such and such a way!" and it was
something that didn't even cross my mind when i wrote the song. so yeah, i
think people can find different meanings in songs based on their own life. i
know this list is all about discussion of all things sdre, but this
discussion is pretty much not gonna go anywhere past that i don't think,
because truthfully, there IS no right answer. it's up for everyone to decide
for themselves.
take care peoples. =)

2000-10-04 Thread Yzer19man

so i bought this john vanderslice cd called Mass Suicide Occult Figurines, and there
is a track called Interlude. guess who plays bass on it?

jeff palmer.

thought that was kind of cool.

on the pavement mailing list, i also highly recommended the john vanderslice album.
not sure if i should do so here. kinda poppy, lots of piano, singer sounds british
but i dont think he is (hey, maybe sdre fans WOULD dig it!). anyway, JV has his own
website, www.johnvanderslice.com (...i think, but it could just be
www.vanderslice.com,) that has all of the tracks available for complete download, so
you're welcome to try before you buy.
