am i missing something here? or am i just supposed to be finding the article
about SDRE breaking up? yeah, that was posted on this list sometime last
week, and the site a day or two before that. though i will give TRS credit
for at least having facts straight in the article, which isn't always a
given. =P
i guess now's as good a time as any to put my .02 in about the break-up, not
that anyone really needs to hear it...
personally, i'm in support of what they did. don't get me wrong, i love
SDRE, including their newer stuff. however, i'd much rather have them split
up now than wind up hating each other personally, which is what it sounds
like may have occured had they forced themselves into continuing work on
something they saw as somewhat of an impossible mission. at least this
leaves it open for future collaborations down the road. i will also express
my gratitude to the members of the band for the wonderful music and, in my
opinion, fantastic live shows they have provided myself and many others with
over the years. i never got to see SDRE live the first time around, but i
made sure not to make the same mistake this time. people would always ask me
why i saw SDRE every single time i possibly could. "don't you get sick of
them?" they's ask. and no, i never did. i've had too much experience with
bands breaking up before i get to see them, that i was going to do
everything in my power to see SDRE live as much as i could, just in case
something like this happened. and it was worth every penny i ever spent. i
wish Dan, Will, and Jeremy the best in whatever they do from hear, and am
anxious to hear anything new they have coming out, whether it be solo
records (which Jeremy does owe sub-pop as jeff stated), new groups,
whatever. and maybe someday in the future, things will get resolved to the
point that they can once again create music together in an environment they
don't consider stifling. if not, i hope we all can do what i plan to
do...and that's enjoy the wonderful music they've provided to this point,
and continue to turn to their music as we have for whatever powerful
emotions it gives us. i just hope everyone else out there got to see them
perform, as it is an experience i wouldn't trade for the world. sorry if i
rambled incoherently too much. i've had way too much time to think. john
out.
