If you have been turned down for credit then you can obtain your credit reports for free. There are also some sites online that offer to send you a free credit report after you have filled out the form. If you go to google.com and type in free credit report you will find a long list. You will have to begin the application process to find out if they ask for credit card info or not. If they do just cancel the application. Donna

What state do you live in - some states like New Jersey allow you get to get one free credit report a year. I found something a while back about it - it may have been on the federal trade commissions's site and got the reports, but I think one or more of them (there are 3 credit reporting companies) was done by phone.
