Re: [Server-devel] PDA mambot on XS

2010-10-01 Thread Mike Dawson
Hi,

Was a topic I considered a little while back working with CMS systems
out here...

Depends what class of mobile device was one is dealing with - if
you're talking PDAs and more advanced phones then just a template /
Joomla running in XHTML mode should be fine as long as it's reasonably
put together. If you're talking like the small Nokia WML browsers
then it's trickier. They should probably just use a wapalizer.

The XS has a LAMP setup so shouldn't be too challenging.

Regards,

-Mike

I personally don't even know what mambot is (and I'm under a pile of
hi-pri work).

If you outline goals more openly maybe someone can help you...

Or (in the opposite direction)if you outline specific technical
challenges in installing mambot,...

No-one has replied to this, but I remain interested in a mobile friendly
plugin for the XS. If anyone has any thoughts on this I would be very
interested. I'm thinking more in terms of increasing access to community
through the most ubiquitous devices, sharing multimedia content, especially
audio.

Subject: PDA mambot on XS

Hello,

Coming from someone with as meagre Linux skills as me this may seem rich.
But I am interested in an application targeting mobile users as well as XOs.
Is it possible to install a PDA-mambot on the XS without doing it via a
Joomla or other CMS? If so would I just follow a standard approach to
installing it?
