SD valve cover bolt in pan?

2006-05-01 Thread Ean Orsel
I so want to say just tip the engine over and shake it till the bolt falls
out.

Looking at the bottom of the engine with no pan, you can get a clear look at
the other side of the intermediate shaft. So I'd suspect the bolt is down
there. If not, can you poke down and around with something like a welding
rod?

Re: SD Injector O-rings

I need the o-rings for my fuel injectors. The Dodge dealer says that they
can't be bought separately from the injector. I called an after-market

that

fits another application that I can use for my injectors?

Ask a local engine rebuilding shop. That's where I always end up when I

SD Control Arms

2005-08-03 Thread Ean Orsel
I have an '87 LeBaron, and put on a '93 complete lower suspension. Only to
find out they moved the K-frame at some point in later years, and the '93

Before I head to the yard, I wanted to recheck I'm getting the right control

I'm looking for the '89-'90 stamped arms correct? These will locate the

SD problem with turbo lines

2005-04-27 Thread Ean Orsel
This isn't the best picture, but does the lower stainless line look in the
right place?
http://custommopar.homestead.com/files/lines.JPG
I was about to put my starter in tonight, only to find it won't go. The
stainless lines are simply in the way. I already dismantled the power
steering pump and bracket to make some room, but not enough.
And even if I do get it clear of the exhaust manifold and lines, that lower
line looks like it's right smack in the way of where the starter should be
when it's in place.
Can someone modify this picture by circling the joints I can safely undo and
tighten again? Is there any joints that shouldn't be touched after being
installed already?

I was thinking today that I will need to get another head gasket for my

Fel-Pro is usually frowned upon here.
Best bang for the buck should be a Mopar Performance gasket. They are about
$20-$30 and many people are pushing over 20psi with no trouble.

When I went to visit my engine builder, he had already fitted a cometic
gasket, so I thought sure why not. But it did cost something like $60.

Re: SD white Valve cover?

2005-01-20 Thread Ean Orsel
I stripped mine once on my old Pacifica T1 and it looked ten times
better. It's not like it's gonna rust or tarnish.
The bare valve cover is aluminium. I'm not sure how bad they would get in
damp locations, but in the snow belts where salt is used on the roads, they
corrode to look pretty dang nasty.

I grabbed a spare cover from a '92 Spirit that had silver paint. Looked
alot like my stock bare valve cover after it corroded.
But also the paint was cracked and peeling at all the lettering where there

If your digital dash is erratic, and staying at 85 or so when doing other

SD Trouble with Brake fluid

2004-09-13 Thread Ean Orsel
I put new callipers on my '87 LeBaron coupe.
Also a new master cylinder. I put fluid in the tank and pumped the piston
with a stick till fluid came out the ports. (then some, as there was dirty
fluid in the used truck reservoir I put on the new master cylinder)

I then put the assembly in the car, and attached the lines to it. I put my
vacuum bleeder on the drivers front, and started pulling air/fluid into the
catch can. When I felt the master cylinder would be getting low, I stopped
and topped it up. Then repeat the process.
Another detail, is that the front of the car is jacked up about 10 higher
than normal.

I've pumped a litre of fluid through this calliper, and still air is coming
out. What am I doing wrong, or miss? Do I have to level the car some?

Re: SD 1 piece intake core plug

I've got this 1-piece intake here that I have theorized there to have dirt
or something inside of it. Washing it out with water hasn't helped. I'm
not sure what the scoup is.

One thing to try, is dropping a bunch of wood screws in there, and shaking
the intake around. The screws will scratch around inside to help get what
water won't touch. Best thing would be to strap the intake to one of those
motorized paint mixers they use in the paint store. But without access to
one of those, get ready to stand there like an idiot shaking your intake
manifold for quite a while.

Re: SD testing the waters

2004-08-31 Thread Ean Orsel
I've seen the crank scrapers, and their price. I figured it was allot
cheaper to make something on my own.
Well right off the bat, I decided it was too much work to cut the sheet
metal to fit the profile of the crank. I then went to the idea of a windage
tray. I still needed to work around the crank, and the oil pickup. I ended
up just making two short trays on the ends, leaving the area around the
pickup open.

A Chevy guy working on a 350 in the stall next to mine showed me a 350
windage tray made by a regular engine accessory company for small block
chev's. He said this is the kind of thing you need.
I replied Well as soon as you find a company that makes those for a
Chrysler Turbo 2.5 let me know

Had you offered these about 2 months ago, I'd be the first customer. But I
now have my sad attempt at baffles in, and cannot pull my oil pan without
removing the water pump.

Re: SD Alright, who's installed a Turbo Timer?

2004-08-15 Thread Ean Orsel
Have a look at http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/ and look into their wiring
section for installing a remote starter.

For what it's worth, I'm making a poor-boy turbo timer system. I'm going to
use a capacitor set-up. I'll make plug in modules rated for different
lengths of time.

SD Hi-flo cat. convertor

2004-08-06 Thread Ean Orsel
To the people running a 3 exhaust system:

Is there any concern of a 3 cat. converter being too big to fit the stock
location? Will it hit the heat shield?

Re: SD 89 Shelby Question, and WTB

2004-07-29 Thread Ean Orsel
There's actually a specification for how tight the timing belt is
supposed to be. To set it you use a special tool that has a calibrated
weight on it. Most of us set it by feel by simply tightening it until
you can barely twist the belt 90 degrees along the front of the motor.

When I was putting my motor together, the FSM says what angle to have the
'special' tool at. This info is useless when you use standard tools. I was
going to go with the imprint on the block left by the hardware, as to where
the pulley should be positioned.
I still went to another car and checked to see it's about 90 degrees like
Stefan mentioned. Turns out I had it in the right place.
