2018-01-18 Thread RaiMan
Question #663191 on Sikuli changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/sikuli/+question/663191

RaiMan proposed the following answer:
Things have changed a lot since then.
You should use latest version 1.1.1 (http://sikulix.com) and make your
experiences.

... and SikuliX can work of course with files "edited by outside editor" - you
only have to accept the rules for a SikuliX script:
- a folder named foobar.sikuli
- contains a file foobar.py (might be edited outside)
- contains images referenced in the script

Are you using latest SikuliX - at least 1.1.1?
http://sikulix.com

The IDE supports as many scripts as you like - just open a new tab.
There are many features that allow, to divide larger scripts into smaller
parts, besides the things the Python language as such delivers.

In the docs there are some infos about import and running scripts from
within other scripts.

And with an intelligent naming scheme it is possible, to use the IDE
only for the image management only, while working with the code in
mature IDE's like PyCharms.

Many possibilities.

... and I totally agree with comment #1

Question #663232 on Sikuli changed:

RaiMan proposed the following answer:
1. The mentioned question contains nothing, that tells you, that your
usage is regular.

2. click has to be written so and not Click

3. the mentioned loc in click(loc) is a Python variable representing a
valid location on the screen specified according to the SikuliX rules.

4. you would not have had the need, to ask this question, if you would
have done, what the guy of the other question only did, after he got his
answer (see comment #3 there)

Auf ein Neues, lieber Max Mustermann.
Erst lesen, dann verstehen und dann fragen.

Ich weiß, dass diese Antwort wahrscheinlich nicht politisch korrekt ist

hat.

[Sikuli-driver] [Bug 802690] Re: Linux: VNC: IDE: Part of a dialog gets black when trying to take a screenshot

2018-01-18 Thread RaiMan
LOL, should have looked at your screenshots :-(

Your "problem" has nothing to do with this question thread: that is
about SikuliX using VNC.

You are simply running SikuliX on an Ubuntu machine as an interactive Jython
session.
At the Jython level
capture()

starts an interactive capture.
So you have to paint the capture region.

... and the "black" area is part of the feature (the drawing pane).

That the screen image is offset by the left bar is a known glitch caused
by the Ubuntu GUI manger.

Question #663216 on Sikuli changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/sikuli/+question/663216

Status: Open => Answered

RaiMan proposed the following answer:
as mentioned:
you have to learn some basic Python.

... and the docs show you how to use selectRegion:
http://sikulix-2014.readthedocs.io/en/latest/screen.html#Screen.selectRegion

correct:
imageMap = Region(1627,856,247,149)
(hope you used the Region select button in the IDE for that ;-)

or
imageMap = selectRegion() # to paint the region at each run

BTW:
click(Pattern("image.png").similar(0.85))

can be
click()

in this case, since you want to click the image, that was already found by
exists(image, 0)

this is a convenience feature (last match)

Title:
Linux: VNC: IDE: Part of a dialog gets black when trying to take a
  screenshot

Status in Sikuli:
  In Progress

Bug description:
When I try to take a screenshot, run sikuli script or use Matching
Preview in a specific dialog, part of this dialog gets black.

If I move the dialog this won't happen anymore, so I can still run my
script just dragging and dropping my dialog before performing my
  actions on this dialog.

It is the first time I see it and it only happens with this dialog.

I'm running Sikuli X-1.0rc2 x86_64, on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Server release 6.1 (Santiago) through a VNC session. (Sikuli
installation and my VNC server are on this machine)

I'm not sure how to reproduce this bug since it is the only situation
that I can see this happening.

I've already tried in a new VNC session but the same problem happened.

@Manfred
Yes it is and it is not the cause for the problem (just tested with 1.1.2)

Thanks for commenting,

Manfred Hampl requested more information:
Is the statement 'print("aaa")' valid jython syntax?
I thought it should be without parentheses?

What happens if you try saving a script that contains

print "aaa"

?

masuo gave more information on the question:
I usually don't use script.html.
When I have to explain SikuliX to others who don't know SikuliX, script.html is
helpful as document. I can attach script.html and send a mail to them.
When I have to read long lines of script codes, I want to print script.html. So
script.html is helpful in this case too.
