Maplib.net is exactly what you need.

It allows you to upload any photo (so you aren't limited to google maps'
photo (think a photo of pre-partition India, showing the princely states)
and then put your flags on it!

See what I did with a top-down photo of the Bishop Cottons' campus.

Simple solution. Mark them on Google Earth and move them to a
 folder. Save
the KML , and upload to a web server. You can access it
 through Google Maps.

 eg :
 http://maps.google.com/maps?f=qhl=enq=http://chari.arachnis.
 com/address.kmlie=UTF8z=3om=0

Interesting.

http://www.google.co.in/search?q=udhay

For the first time that I can think of, my homepage is not the first
result for udhay. It seems to be a page with no incoming links:

http://www.google.co.in/search?as_lq=udhyakumar.tripod.combtnG=Search

Any ideas what's up with that? I can think of a few explanations, but
would like the hivemind's opinion.

I suspect *.tripod.com gets treated as foo.tripod.com by the ranking mechanism.

PageRank is obsolete.

It worked in the era of the read-only web, but wasn't designed to
handle read-write. Spam blogs are entirely the result of this
shortcoming. Unless they come up with a new algorithm, fast, Google's
search relevance is going the way of Altavista's. Their crude
attempts at patching the leaks aren't working well enough.

Providers like Technorati, Techmeme and Tailrank are already chipping
away at the niche categories.

I suffered a server crash a couple of months ago, couldn't attend to
it for a week, and since then have dropped off the first page of
results for all of jace, kiran, and jonnalagadda, where
previously I was first result against my last name and at least in
the top five for the others, across five years. No explanation for
what changed other than the site throwing up a 503 when GoogleBot
came by.
