[silk] Beer and bites this Friday in Bombay

2015-09-08 Thread Mahesh Murthy
Hey folks, I'm turning 50 this weekend.

Given the rise in global warming, onion prices and pollution and my general
disregard for the RSS, Taliban and common decency, I'm told reaching this
far is a feat worth celebrating.

So please join me at Doolally Taproom, Candies Lane, opposite Lilavati
Hospital, Bombay for beer and bites. Friday Sep 11 from 7pm till late.

No gifts please - though if you're feeling generous there will be a couple
of charities around.

Thanks, hope to see you! Sorry for a group invite, but there's no one here
I would not like to have around :-)

Please email my assistant Aarti, copied here if you can make it!

Regards,

Mahesh

Dear Mahesh,

To be alive, healthy, solvent and happy each year is indeed worth
celebrating, and fifty is a good round number.

I may not be able to attend, but my good wishes to you, for continued
health and happiness in life, will sparkle from the spirits and speak
from the food!

It's very nice, even after 14 years, to be able to celebrate on nine-eleven!

Cheers, Deepa.

As a quick reminder, the most important rule of silklist is "Assume
goodwill". This means that you expect the listmembers to be acting in good
faith as a default position, in the absence of other evidence.

I'd encourage you to keep that in mind. Also, keep silklist discussions on
silklist, please.

Re: [silk] James Bonilla - Introduction

2015-09-08 Thread Deepa Mohan
Welcome, Mr IQ150. Very few human beings, I suppose, achieve this
score, so you are definitely out of the ordinary.

However, since this is a list with many different kinds of
people...all of whom respect each other's views...

Personally, I believe in multiple areas of intelligence, and so do not
believe in a numerical gradation of intelligence. And increasingly, as
I age, I find that goodness of heart, and that white liquid, the milk
of human kindness, count more with me.

If one of the main rules of this list is "assume goodwill", do you
think there will be politics? We are a set of Perfect Beings!

Ooops...the Leader Of The List has already talked about assuming
goodwill...but I'll let my words stand.

Cheers, Deepa.
