Hi Deepa

Nice to hear from you.

Nat Geos are going to stay for this and many future generations of Misras.
No way they are going to leave my house :-) There is a guarantee provided
by me, that you can ask for them whenever you want them back if you miss
them so much. People still dont believe my luck to get such a collection so
easily. I have not got around yet to making a dedicated bookshelf
exclusively for this collection, but I will get around to it one of these
days.

btw: I have a Cannon SLR EOS 1000F with a 35-50mm lens purchased in 1992 .
This was in the days when digital was not invented as yet and this took real
excellent photos. There is some small problem in the shutter assembly which
needs looking at and possibly fungus in the lens. If you are interested in
the old fashioned photography with old fashioned film, I would like to offer
it to you. Let me know if you think you could and would use it.

Are you in Bangalore right now ? I remember that you were on a long visit to
USA.

btw: i assume that you are aware of this group freecycleblr? This is a real
nice way to dispose of things you dont need though I suspect that it is not
fully used in India in the spirit for which ti was intended. You can check
out this group at yahoogroups if you have not heard of it.

Hi Deepak!

Oh, no, when you feel that your baby is in good hands, you don't worry :)

I was in the US from April to October, came back to Blr for a short 3-month
break, and am back in St.Louis now. Hope to finish up and be back home in 6
months' time!

We have our own Canon A1 to dispose of...using film is well-nigh impossible
for us now, with no one willing to process our pictures!

I am still planning to get rid of more stuff when I return, and that's not
just books...let's see how it goes. my husband is a Grade A pack rat and
rarely gives permission! (He only agreed to the NatGeo because you were
taking it home with you.)

Cheers, and I have NO regrets about giving you the magazines!

Deepa.

I also have the hoarder mentality and tried to keep everything. I have all
electricity, telephone, credit card bills from the last 10-15 years. I
finally scanned everything (even though I really did not need them) and
threw them out. We have now started with things in the loft (like the
thermos flask we got 10 years back, 2 geysers, ...) The books were
overflowing all over the place and I took the decision to get rid of
everything I had not read and was not planning to read in the next 6 months.
It was real tough at the begining It gives you a very good feeling once you
remove everything you dont need.

With respect Sir - in 2010 this is junk. As is the stuff I have in this genre

1) A Nikon F 301 35 mm film camera bought in 1986 when the only fancy feature
was auto wind, with Sigma and Tamron lenses 28-80 mm, and 75-200 mm

2) A Canon autofocus idiot proof 35mm film camera

3) Panasonic camera as above

4) An Olympus Pen half frame compact camera with a built in exposure meter
bought in 1977

5) A Box camera for 120 mm film bought in 1962

6) An 8 mm film Camera and projector

I am keeping some of this stuff hoping they will become collectors items.

These ones are getting pretty rare ... Since not too many used examples work.
A good example still fetches good money

 5) A Box camera for 120 mm film bought in 1962

Not this one though ... a few people still use Kodak brownies ... but
they sell for $5

In madras - I have a bunch (but too many to catalog and scan covers)

Mostly picked up from 2nd hand bookstores like the abids sunday market in
hyderabad. so has all the pages is the most I can say for quite a lot of
them.

assorted novels - well known authors (james michener, elizabeth george,
james clavell, etc). some classics. several hundred books.

Someone wants stuff like these, email me. Willing to give away books (or
maybe swap for them). Typically will swap fiction for fiction, I dont have
too much of a taste (or the time and inclination) for non fiction at all
