CSStudy Shows Silver Nanoparticles Attach to HIV-1 virus

2010-02-12 Thread miss...@prodigy.net.mx
Don't know if this has made the silver list, since it is a few years old...

Study Shows Silver Nanoparticles Attach to HIV-1 virus

In the first-ever study of metal nanoparticles' interaction with HIV-1,
silver nanoparticles of sizes 1-10nm attached to HIV-1 and prevented the
virus from bonding to host cells.

The study, published in the Journal of Nanotechnology, was a joint project
between the University of Texas, Austin and Mexico Univeristy, Nuevo Leon.

Our article opens an important avenue for research, said Miguel Jose
Yacaman, from University of Texas, Department of Engineering and one of the
study's authors.

In this study, scientists mixed silver nanoparticles with three different
capping agents: foamy carbon, poly (PVP), and bovine serum albumin
(BSA).Not using a capping agent could result in the synthesis of big
crystals instead of nanocrystals, explained Yacaman.

Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed the silver nanoparticles in
the foamy carbon matrix were joined together, but an ultrasonic bath in
deionized water released a significant number of nanoparticles. These
nanoparticles were of size 16.19 (+-8.69)nm and had the greatest variety of
shapes, such as icosahedral, decahedral, and elongated.

Because of the synthesis procedure, the foamy carbon-coated naoparticles
are more likely to have broad shape distribution, said Yacaman. Scientists
used the electron beam to release the remainder of the nanoparticles from
the joined bundle.

For the PVP-coated silver nanoparticles, scientists used glycerine as a
dissolving agent. These particles were of size 6.53 (+-2.41). In the third
preparation, scientists used serum albumin, the most common protein in
blood plasma. The sulfur, oxygen, and nitrogen chemicals in BSA stabilized
the nanoparticles, which were in the range of 3.12 (+-2.00) nm.

Scientists studied the absorption spectra of the different preparations to
pinpoint their shapes. Spherical nanoparticles absorbed in the blue region
of the spectrum, for example, Yacaman said.

Also, the UV-Visible spectra graphs helped the group determine nanoparticle
sizes. The surface plasmon resonance peak wavelength increased with size,
explained Yacaman.

Scientists tested, in vitro, each of three silver nanoparticle-preparations
in HIV-1 cells. Yacaman and his colleagues incubated the samples at 37 C.
After three hours and 24 hours, respectively, 0% of the cells were living.

The results showed that a silver nanoparticle concentration greater than 25
ug/mL worked more effectively at inhibiting HIV-1 cells. Plus, the foamy
carbon was a slightly-better capping agent because of its free surface
area. Size also played a role since none of the attached nanoparticles were
greater than 10nm.

Scientists think the nanoparticles bonded through the gp120 glycoprotein
knobs on HIV-1, using the sulfur residues on the knobs. The spacing between
the knobs of ~22nm matched the center-to-center nanoparticle spacing.

Although this study shows silver nanoparticles may treat HIV-1, scientists
need to research this relationship further. We lack information regarding
the long-term effects of metal nanoparticles, cautioned Yacaman.
Scientists are forming a preventive cream for HIV-1, which they will test
on humans.

Scientists are also studying other uses for silver nanoparticles. We're
testing against other viruses and the 'super bug (Methicillin resistant
staphylococcus aureus).' Our preliminary results indicate that silver
nanoparticles can effectively attack other micro-organisms, Yacaman said.

Re: CSCS - malaria - and MMS

2008-03-27 Thread miss...@prodigy.net.mx
I think your memory of CS working against malaria may come from some of my
older posts, regarding how effective CS is working against Dengue Fever,
which is a close relative of malaria, and is also mosquito borne.

I lived in Southern Mexico, and I've had the dreaded Dengue at least 25
times. But I did not have a single case for the seven years I took CS
(Microdyn at 90 ppm) on a daily basis. However, I stopped the CS after my
nails turned blue (from using an off-brand product, not Microdyn) and
caught my first case of Dengue in seven years. This occurred several years
ago.

CS both prevents and quickly cures Dengue. I also believe it also
prevents/cures malaria, but do not have any proof, since I've never
contracted malaria.

I also believe I've read posts about the World Health Organization (or some
such international body) testing CS against malaria in West Africa, but
haven't read any followup posts regarding the effectiveness of CS against
malaria.

We live in a rural area with adjacent fields where bulls, cows, horses,
goats, etc. are frequent. The ticks are terrible, and our pets suffer. Is
there any sort of practical non-toxic substance we could spray our yard
with before the invasion? (Tobacco juice is not an option.)

I'm currently mid-stream in the MMS protocol, after doing an abbreviated
version of it in early December (because I didn't properly read the
instructions).

Just from my abbreviated version (I just did 1 through 15 drops daily, not
three times daily as recommended. You start with 1 drop and work your way
up to 15.) I can attest that it works. It all but eliminated a scalp
fungus that defied all other treatment for 3 years, and I believe the full
treatment will eliminate it entirely. It also gave me a distinct feeling
of well-being and good health.

Clorox doesn't do that for me.

Buy 1 liter bottle of 3200 ppm Microdyn, and add 160 liters of pure water

I have a company that is wanting large quantities of 20 ppm CS. I make 5
ppm normally and have made 10 by making two passes through our machine. But
I don't think I can get 20 that way, the particle size simply gets way too
large.

Anyone have any good methods for making large quantites of 20 ppm CS? I
would like to be able to produce at least 3 or 4 gallons an hour. LVDC I
believe would be too slow. HVAC gets it too hot unless using multiple
passes.

Bob, you have played with underwater sputtering I think. How does that
work? How does the microwave HVDC work?

Thanks,

Dear Mike:

You said:

Let me reassure you, Bill, that I include myself firmly in the ranks of
that same lunatic fringe whenever I make such a comment. Like so many
of you here, I've come a *long* way in what I will admit to the realm
of possibility, since coming aboard the internet a dozen or so years
ago. Thus, even if I poke a little fun at us, it's with respect and
fondness.

Well said, Mike! I'm firmly there myself, and see the OT list as the place
where we can spout til we drop on any fringe belief we might entertain.
You have once again proven why you are our respected OO.

With regards, Bill Missett

LOL!!!

I think this thread illustrates aptly just how *impossible* it is to
communicate succinctly in an all-text medium such as this!

Was I casting aspersions on all of our alternative thinkers?

Was Bill's post *really* tongue-in-cheek?

Am I insulted by his OT Loony Bin remark?

dum dum dum... (Organ music, with lots of tremolo!)

The reason for my original post was to encourage you all to keep the
more speculative stuff short, or move it to the OT list.

The fact is, I'm not so many years removed from my pre-awakened state
that I've forgotten how *I* would have reacted to chemtrails, pyramids,
orgone or the persecution of Tesla, if early on I had stumbled into a
forum like this looking for information about colloidal silver.

When deciding about topics I always visualize somebody arriving,
relatively new to the net, a bit nervous about this alternative
medicine stuff, and ultimately skeptical about anything that's not been
blessed by coverage on the evening news.

Do we want to help them or scare them away?

What we have here is a balancing act. I don't want to stop everybody
from enjoying the discussion, but for the sake of the mission we have
to be sure that the crazy sounding stuff stays to a small-ish
fraction of the content. That way folks will see that there *is*
worthwhile information to be found here despite the handful of
crackpots and lunatics who believe in all that other junk...

In time, of course, they'll begin to realize that we're practically
*all* crackpots and loonies by those standards -- and hopefully they'll
balance that against the solid things they've learned about CS and
maybe, just maybe, start to re-examine their assumptions about what
they think is real.

As I see it, CS is an easy first step on the road to waking up. It
works, it's easy and cheap (or should be anyway), and it can be
explained in pretty conventional scientific terms. It'll *also* get
them rubbing elbows with all of us kooks who've decided to stop
believing everything our doctors say and taken personal responsibility
for our health.

Can you imagine a better way to get through to people?

Let me reassure you, Bill, that I include myself firmly in the ranks of
that same lunatic fringe whenever I make such a comment. Like so many
of you here, I've come a *long* way in what I will admit to the realm
of possibility, since coming aboard the internet a dozen or so years
ago. Thus, even if I poke a little fun at us, it's with respect and
fondness.

Peace.

Be well,
