Thanks to all who have responded to us.  He has used ibuprofen but it did not help him.  Other otc's also.  Naproxen did help and he used it consistently until Celebrex.  He did the complete CMO thing with the product recommended on this list or some other by someone.  It has been a long time and I don't recall the particulars.  It was from an individual person, not a company.  His problem began 5 years after a back surgery.  The MD said arthritis would set in after about 5 years and it did.  However, we had no idea it would be so crippling;  we just expected aches and pains, not constant agony.  I will tell him about the flax oil drops since we have and use Barlean's regularly.  He will give it a good try I'm sure.  He has upped his cs intake to a pint or so a day and doesn't have to be cajoled or reminded.  I think he will be interested to find out that one of the iodine docs-maybe Abraham, recommends 50 mgs. per day for 3 months for saturation, then down to 12.5 for maintainance.  Since the iodine has made a noticeable difference at a lower dose, it sounds reasonable to give that a shot.  And I am making a gallon of new cs just now--a quart or so a day might be a good idea.  What's a little blue between friends. :)  But I make the good stuff anyway.   Thanks again to all.   I have ordered the Can-C.  It should arrive soon and when we know something I will report.    Best wishes, pj

Some things that help me would be:
1, Colloidal minerals (70+ trace minerals from mined shale, I use Organa brand) 2. Magnesium supplements (not Oxide which is not well absorbed- Chloride, glycinate, etc would be better)
3. Vitamins B6 and Pantothenic Acid in addition to a B-50 stress formula
4. Infrared heat lamp or ceramic heat emitter used to heat area in pain for pain relief and also improvement in bone and cartilage interaction
5. Ovo-lacto vegetarian diet
6. Omega 3 oils like fish oils, flaxseed oil blended with cottage cheese or drained yogurt (or perhaps it will also work blended with beans, nutritional yeast, and garlic and onion powders), used for salad dressing and uncooked oil uses
7. Coconut oil used for cooking
8. Time spent daily in the sun, preferably both morning and afternoon, without eyeglasses so beneficial wavelengths are not eliminated by glass. 9. Raw fruits eaten daily including papaya and pineapple, raw or lightly steamed vegetables eaten daily including cabbage family vegetables including broccoli, cauliflower, kale, 10. Minimize fried and baked foods, eliminate white or refined sugar and grains containing gluten (non-gluten grains include buckwheat, millet, rice, quinoa and amaranth)

I had a 9 month knee injury that healed last fall after I started the diet part above, 5-10. I used to have my back "go out" frequently in my 30's but after taking 1-3 it stopped. I'm now 62.
