Re: [Skim-app-users] Offset for PDF page numbers

2018-02-02 Thread Christiaan Hofman
There is nothing we can do about this from Skim. This is purely a thing of
the converter. You should also realize that the page numbers in Skim aren't
really numbers, to which you can apply arithmetics. They are text, e.g. it
can be a, b, c.

[Skim-app-users] Offset for PDF page numbers

2018-02-01 Thread Yutian Li
I have been using Skim for a long time and it is just perfect. One
thing I noticed, especially for scanned scanned books, is that the
page numbers of the PDF and the page numbers of the book itself
mismatch. I wonder how people usually deal with this.

1. I could image set some kind of "offset" in Skim itself. So when I
jump to a page number, it automatically adds that offset.
2. Or in the "page" input box (where you input a page number and hit
enter to jump to that page), we allow certain arithmetic expressions.
Say I could input "500 + 30" to show that I want to go to page 500,
but the offset is 30 somehow. Or I could input "+30" to show that I
want to jump 30 pages ahead of current; so I don't have to click "next
page" 30 times.

Any thoughts?
