About that last: there is the Correct Spelling Automatically option. This
default value for this can be set in the Keyboard system preferences.

I think it would actually be worthwhile to remember your choice. So this (and
related) settings will be sticky across (at least some) inputs and launches in
the next release.

No, there is no way to do this. It is not an ap[p wide setting, but a function
of each text input control by itself.

[Skim-app-users] help

2023-06-07 Thread Frank C
How to keep "Check Spelling While Typing" on.

Hello,

I've been using Skim to take notes during school. I'll print a professor's
powerpoint to PDF. This allows me to markup and take notes anywhere on the
powerpoint presentation using "text note" and "freehand".

However, it does not automatically spell check. I know there's a "Check
spelling while typing" option, but it turns off when I create a new text
box. Is there a way to have this automatically turn on whenever I create a
new text box?

Bonus question: Is it also possible to incorporate Mac's autocorrect?

Thanks!

I already figured out what is going wrong. It is a long time serious design bug
in the system that Apple never bothered to fixed (and probably won’t be able
to), and I forgot to work around.

I will fix this for the next release.

For now, you can work around this by editing the text of the note in a separate
note window, by double-clicking the note itself.

I am not sure what you mean by your second point.

Perhaps you can look up a crash report for this in Console.app, and figure
out where it crashes on. You could send a copy of one to me off list.

Hi Skim-app-users: I'm writing in the hope that someone can help me.
I've been a satisfied SKIM user for a while now, but as of two days ago, it
has started crashing on me persistently. This is what happens:

1. I highlight text to create a note.
2. When I click on the note header [the upper line in the gray bar], so as
to revise the title of the note header: it crashes.

Can anyone help?

2017-12-04 Thread zachary shulman
sorry i forgot to add help in the subject

I have many textbooks filled with sticky annotations (which were created
