[Slackbuilds-users] Possible updates to libvirt/QEMU stack

2017-01-09 Thread Andrzej Telszewski

Hi,

There is no real reason behind, just killing the time.

I went through the virt-manager/libvirt/QEMU dependencies and updated
those I found were not the latest versions.

After applying the updates, everything seems to work as usual (I'm using
virt-manager/libvirt and QEMU for local virtual machines).

Most of the time, they are version bumps.
Here they go (diffs attached):

development/vala: updated for version 0.35.2.
libraries/libvirt: updated for version 2.5.0.
libraries/libvirt-glib: updated for version 1.0.0.
libraries/libvirt-python: updated for version 2.5.0.
libraries/vte3: updated for version 0.46.1, added pcre2 dependency,
switch ARCH to i586.

network/phodav: updated for version 2.1.
python/pyparsing: updated for version 2.1.10.
python/python-requests: updated for version 2.12.4.
python/python-urllib3: updated for version 1.19.1, switch ARCH to i586.
system/qemu: updated for version 2.8.0, added BRIDGE_HELPER_SETUID option.

I'm not asking for official updates, but I won't stop you ;-)

Re: [Slackbuilds-users] giving up my builds

2017-01-09 Thread Andreas Guldstrand
Wow, that's a lot of things that need taking up ... I'll be happy to take

perl/perl-Inline
perl/perl-Inline-C
perl/perl-File-ShareDir-Install
perl/perl-Pegex
perl/perl-IO-All
perl/perl-File-Copy-Recursive
perl/perl-YAML-LibYAML
perl/perl-test-warn

I could be persuaded to take a few more of the perl ones if nobody else
steps up.

I've thought about this for a while. I plan to stick with Slackware, but I
just have never been much of a build maintainer -- much as I like the
feeling of being a contributor, someone more skilled could contribute so
much more than I am able to, so I am orphaning the following. Thanks for

[Slackbuilds-users] Updates - 20170109.1

2017-01-09 Thread David Spencer
Hey folks, here is a new Public Update for you!

As well as the usual updates, there are about 700 commits that revise
doinst.sh -- thanks to Alexander Verbovetsky for finding the problem and
finding the fix, as he reported on this mailing list yesterday.

**IMPORTANT** -- for all Maintainers

When you make a new update, *always* please start from the latest
version on SlackBuilds.org (do not use your local version) because
sometimes we need to make big changes (like this doinst.sh update) to
all the scripts.

Another **IMPORTANT** -- for nvidia users

Please do not use the nvidia-driver and nvidia-kernel updates that I
merged in this update -- they are not yet ready and I should not have
merged them yet. Sorry everybody! I will make a new public update in
the next couple of hours that reverts these commits. Thanks to Matteo
for being so observant :)

Totally. Nobody can be expected to keep up with that kind of pace; especially
when it only really needed updating because they trashed the previous release.

Thanks for updating this. It seems that nowadays foomatic-db releases
new package every day, so it's not really possible to keep up to date.

Please *don't* introduce a qt5 dependency for owncloud-client. As far as
I know, there is none.

Hi JCA,

have you read its README ( /usr/doc/cracklib-2.9.6/README )? I don't
use it but it states:
"CrackLib is NOT a TOOL. It is not a complete package. It is not
something you can utilise directly.
It is a resource, an aid, something to enhance the functionality of
other software. You need to (either) write OR modify other software
to use it. If you can't do this, then you shouldn't be wasting your
time with it."

what I just wrote is also stated in owncloud-client's README

https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2/network/owncloud-client/

remember that you are supposed to read the READMEs of the stuff you
build from SlackBuilds.org.

Not yet. I'll try to prepare slackbuilds this weekend

Hi reedych,

that most probably happened to you because you built owncloud-client,
and its dependency qtkeychain first, with qt5 installed, so qtkeychain
first and owncloud-client after used qt5.

try removing qt5 and then rebuild qtkeychain first and then
owncloud-client: after having installed the two you can reinstall qt5.

Yes, we noticed that, but since they changed different part of the
scripts, they will not conflict to each other

the unscheduled public update is to avoid future conflict with the rest
of the updates this week.

I don't know if it's wrong from admins point of view, but some packages
are listed twice in the ready queue.

For example: LibreOffice.

LibreOffice was in the ready queue for updated version, before you
updated doinst.sh.

OK, but just a notice about this requirement to make sure
that maintainers are aware, that things like:

Just an idea, maybe https://slackbuilds.org/guidelines/
should mention that maintainers should always
check their packages in git://slackbuilds.org/slackbuilds.git
before submitting upgrades of locally maintained slackbuilds?

git clone git://slackbuilds.org/slackbuilds.git
cd slackbuilds
git checkout
you can check available branches here
https://slackbuilds.org/cgit/slackbuilds/

when you checkout certain branch, all the changes in that branch will be
your working directory. You can test all the changes there and you can
switch back to master branch if public update gets pushed.

[Slackbuilds-users] Updates in doinst.sh template

2017-01-09 Thread Willy Sudiarto Raharjo
Hi all,

just to inform you that doinst.sh in templates have been updated with a
minor update: to use -f in gtk-update-icon-cache code to force updating
the icon cache instead of updating it in the next reboot.

https://slackbuilds.org/cgit/templates/commit/?id=49cc824b72fbdc8c69b938e7c414b4f7a2341c81

We expect maintainers who have doinst.sh for their packages to update
the code accordingly.

thanks
