I looked into this a little bit: update-icon-cache, glib-compile-schemas
and fc.cache
are part of the boot progress (They are called in rc.M). Still, we should
not really depend
on things getting fixed during boot. Maybe it is time to start adding them
to dounint.sh now.

you can check them

I followed
this:
https://docs.slackware.com/howtos:general_admin:setting_up_a_slackware_chroot
Basically you can simply do installpkg --root /chroot-folder */*.t?z
and all folders will be fine.
The wiki doc is for creating 32bit chroot under 64bit system but you
can simply install 64bit packages
instead of 32bit and you will be fine. For network connection, you need
to link /etc/resolv.conf rtp
/chroot/etc/resolv.conf  and you can use slackpkg to keep it up to date
as well. I use chroot to test
new scripts or updates regularly.

nouveau people probably are already digging into the source by now. It
will be helpful for them to better
their kernel modules and the other sections indirectly. Let's hope they

Also, I don't think nouveau will stop if NVidia opens up their drivers

Let's say if you know a language some (like basic grammar and basic
vocabulary) machine translation will give you something you edit to
useful. It can also be useful for checking the submitted translations.
I also know big vendors like MS uses machine translation to translate
their help pages into different languages.

works better for installation than setuptools. Upstream always warns

[Slackbuilds-users] doinst.sh question

2022-04-14 Thread Ozan Türkyılmaz
Hello All,

I noticed a problem with doinst.sh files of my package (namely
lingweather). I checked the file it is generated fine and will create
the needed soft links however sometimes it won't create all the links.
I noticed when evolution-data-server didnt link to the libgweather
inside a test system (Thanks to Dave Woodfall for catching it).

I am not sure what I really do wrong. I am attaching two doinst.sh
files: doinst.sh for the one included with the buildscript and
doinst.sh.package for the generated one. I don't see any errors while
installing the package on my machine. My test system gave the below
error doing installation:

Executing install script for libgweather-40.0-x86_64-1_SBo.tgz.

Also have a look at this bug report:
https://github.com/madler/zlib/issues/618
Looks like there's a common problem with crc calculations now. However,
I got somehow good news:
https://github.com/madler/zlib/commit/ec3df00224d4b396e2ac6586ab5d25f673caa4c2
Probably fixes the issue.

I have quickly looked at the commit messages of the zlib. There has
been serious work on crc in zlib between 1.2.11 and 1.2.12.

Don't do that. MAKEFLAGS is for passing command line arguments to
submake processes [1]. I dont know if MAKEFLAGS="-j2" sh configure

That was what I meant having 32 bit hardware. Chroot wont help you.
Kernel is still 64 bit and there are differences between running under
32 bit and 64 bit kernels. The second best way is to create a full 32
bit installation under an emulator. The best way is of course having a
32 bit slackware installed on a partition and booting into it. But
emulator is the second best thing and will do.

Looking at the upstream sources, a lot of project simply drops 32 bit
compiles or tests all too gether. NOt having hardware also adds to
this. Debian already at the edge of dropping 32 bit. Wine also started
working on making 32 bit libs work using 64 bit versions using trunking
(pretty much how MS did their multi lib system with Windows on
Windows). We are close to end of an era now.

Yes, that is the debian method also Arch32 uses the same method. I
would prefer using the system labraries for whole but then again most
media upstreams prefer to use their own internal versions.

I digged around the eduke32 a little bit. It fails at the linking of
tools. I tried adding baselayer.cpp to the GNUMakefile but not really
worked. This time the compiler compiler complined about multible
definition of "initputs" and "initprintf".
/usr/bin/ld: obj/build/baselayer.o (symbol from plugin): in function
`baselayer_osdcmd_vidmode_func':
(.text+0x0): multiple definition of `initputs';
obj/tools/compat_tools.o (symbol from plugin):(.text+0x0): first
defined here

`baselayer_osdcmd_vidmode_func':

Definitely, it needs adjusting the makefile but I am now out of ideas.

News on HandBrake:
First of all, it seems HandBrake does not support 32bit compile anymore
[1]. However, someone did get it compile it as 32bit [2] with disabling
x265. I know x265 itself builds actually, if we can find a way to force
it using the system x265 and we will be fine.

I started installing 32 bit Slackware chroot right now. I'll take look
at handbrake. My system is 64 bit originally so anything that deals

aMule uses autotools for now and it means actually it is easier for
users than to developers. So far, I want to drop it as I dont really

Looking around, it seems you need to add "delayacct" to the kernel

[Slackbuilds-users] aMule Patch for freeze problem

2022-02-24 Thread Ozan Türkyılmaz
Hello All,

Upstream came up with a solution for freeze problems reported.
It is a simple fix: compile with boost support. I also checked that
it can compile with libupnp instead of linupnp-legacy. I updated
the README file accordingly.

[Slackbuilds-users] libupnp and libupnp-legacy

2022-02-20 Thread Ozan Türkyılmaz
Hello All,

I was looking into how I can get those two installed together. (It's shame
we can't install them together)
With thinkering with configure scripts, I decided to put it on /usr/legacy
prefix with /usr/lib/legacy. It's possible
to pass /usr/lib/legacy/pkgconfig to PKG_CONFIG_PATH during configuration
of other programs (Rİght now
it is only linphone needs libupnp-legacy as far as I can find).

Folder places are for testing only. Maybe putting the libupnp-legacy in
/opt/libupnp-legacy with all the libs is
a better idea.

[Slackbuilds-users] New submissions

Hello All,

I have a question about submissions (when we eventually arrive there).
Are you going to do git patches or merge requests for submissions or
are we keeping uploading tarballs for new submissions?

I still want to give an update to both packages, also I don't want to break
any other package.
mkvtoolnix can use only internal libraries anyway and I'll update it to

I just tested folding at home. It uses old system v style startup scripts
and does not depend on systemd.
Also, it seems it needs its own system user. I didnt tested or read the
documentation but it started fine and downloaded

[Slackbuilds-users] Updates on -current

2021-05-18 Thread Ozan Türkyılmaz
HeyAll,

I checked out my packages on -current and here's the status:
splint - broken compile.
pychm - built fine. There's couple of patches upstream
prelink - built fine.
mkvtoolnix - built fine with the latest version. Version bump was waiting
for -current anyway. QT5 included in -current now.
libupnp and libupnpn-legacy built fine.
liboop built fine
libebml built fine
libmatroska built fine
kildclient built fine. Version bump to 3.2.0 possible but it needs gtkspell3
gsnmp built fine
gnet built fine
fortune-ASR built fine. (I graduated from university 12 years ago but the
link still works. I don't remember my password. Good thing there is no need
for an update.)
chm2pdf built fine
boncuk it needs QT4. Patches to build with QT5. It's not updated for a long
time. As I read, it just needs fixing headers. I will give it a try. If it
works, I fork a copy to my gitlab account.
chatbot-Eliza built fine
aMule - built fine. Also there's a new release and it's built fine. I don't
really use amule anymore. Any users?
bootchard - built fine and I charted my -current boot.
cldr- built fine
iBus-Anthy built fine but its development stuck.

mkvtooknix can use QT for GUI. You need to pass QTGUI=yes to the build

I have prepared a legacy package for libupnp. I got retroshare complining
with it. It's not possible to use it with libupnp package.
I work on it if it is possible for not conflicting with libunpnp

I looked at my scripts:
chm2pdf: That program didn't change for a long time. I didn't find any new
homepage for it.
So I say let's leave it as it is for now.
ibus-anthy: I found the new homepage at github for it. I also tasted the
newest release.
Only a version change works. However ibus package needs some tinkering and
I'll update it after
ibus gets an update. Also ibus needs two packages: unicode emoji and cldr.
I got a submission for cldr.

First of all, I can't look after ibus-anthy any more. I no longer use it.
Rest of my packages:

splint : Fails to build. I'll get back to that later.
aMule : OK
libupnp : OK
liboop : OK
gnet : OK
libebml : OK
libmatroska: OK
cbase : OK
gsnmp : OK
rar: OK
bootchart : OK
prelink : OK
Chatbot-Eliza: OK
fortune-ASR: OK

THere are updates for kildclient and mkvtoolnix. I'll send them later.

A license is required, and we strongly suggest you use the above
BSD/MIT style license. We DO NOT accept Public Domain scripts.
Public domain is not valid in some countries, and no license is
worse than a bad license in those countries.

I saw this coming when first I wrote ibus-anthy script. At a later
update I added this:

# This script is in public domain. If this is not legally possible
# I grant anyone the right to use this work for any purpose, without
any conditions,
# unless such conditions are required by law.

It's from Wikipedia. They use it for Public Domain works of their own.
I don't know if it is acceptable by Admins. Later I moved to BSD/MIT
Style licensing. Because any license is better than no license.
