SBo will be closed for new submission when Alpha/Beta is announced so we
have enough time to test all scripts (we have over 7000+ now) to be
working with future Slackware 15.0. Hopefully, we can publish 15.0
repository on the same day as Slackware 15.0 gets released just as what
we did with 14.2 repository.

Hm.. I won't update a production server to 15.0 on the day of its
release :) and more and more apps require php7. php7 from -current
isn't compatible with php5 and some people need to run both.

Slackware 15.0 has a long way, it is not in beta, there are will be
betas and several Release Candidates before. Unfortunately SBo will be
closed once Slackware 15 is released, but normally only the php version
in the script should be updated and it works. I wouldn't call it
"wasted effort" anyway. There is some chance Pat will update php to
php7 for slackware 14.2 once php5 reached EOL.

We should ask Pat to change php paths to version specific paths, so one
can run two versions simultaneously.

2018-08-28 Thread Greg' Ar Tourter
Well I guess that one of the reason for php7 not being in sbo is that
since it is now in -current, it would be a bit of a wasted effort to
create one now only to have it removed when slackware-15 gets
released.

I don't think it would get rejected though.

Re: [Slackbuilds-users] PHP 7.x

2018-08-28 Thread Eugen Wissner
Hi,

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be. Name it php7 or php72 and
don't override any files from php5. I already have one and it is
already used on a production server. It should be only cleaned up a
bit. I can send it you if you'd like.

[Slackbuilds-users] PHP 7.x

2018-08-28 Thread Thomas Szteliga

Hello,

is there any reason why PHP 7.x (7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3) is not available
on Slackbuilds.org? I know about:

As a general rule, we do not accept SlackBuild scripts of software that is
included as part of Slackware; however, exceptions may be made by the admin
staff on a case-by-case basis.

There is
with Python 2.7 in the official repo.

Would a PHP 7.x slackbuild be accepted by the admin staff?
