[Slackbuilds-users] Truecrypt SlackBuild
I would like to recommend that TrueCrypt be removed from SBo. It has not been maintained since 5/2014, even their website (http://www.truecrypt.org/) says that it should not be considered secure, and they suggest that Windows users to switch to BitLocker. The only viable replacement as far as I know is VeraCrypt (available on SBo) that has been forked from TrueCrypt, and is actively maintained. Many vulnerabilities have been found and fixed since it was forked. https://opencryptoaudit.org/ https://www.veracrypt.fr/en/Release%20Notes.html VeraCrypt also supports mounting TrueCrypt volumes according to the FAQ's, so there *should be* no issues migrating. I have cc'd this to the TrueCrypt SlackBuild maintainer. ___ SlackBuilds-users mailing list SlackBuilds-users@slackbuilds.org https://lists.slackbuilds.org/mailman/listinfo/slackbuilds-users Archives - https://lists.slackbuilds.org/pipermail/slackbuilds-users/ FAQ - https://slackbuilds.org/faq/

Eric has it prebuilt in his repo. I'm aware, on Windows I'm using Veracrypt, but I can't find Veracrypt on slackbuilds.org... I see zulucrypt? https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.1/system/zuluCrypt/?search=veracrypt I need this only for encrypted volumes on pendrives (containing my password-protected private keys) used on both linux and Windows machines. -- Z poważaniem / Best regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Thomas Szteliga websafe.pl Complete IT Solutions for Enterprises ul. [Slackbuilds-users] TrueCrypt
TrueCrypt is actually outdated, vulnerable and unmaintained. You might be better off using VeraCrypt, it will also handle the old TrueCrypt containers. [Slackbuilds-users] truecrypt SlackBuild
This is to confirm that truecrypt builds fine here, so it can be removed from Checklist.txt. One suggestion though: Use the direct source link provided by Arch, which is located at: ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/other/tc/truecrypt-7.1a.tar.gz Of course this would need a small change in .SlackBuild since Arch changed the tarball name from the original TrueCrypt 7.1a Source.tar.gz.
