Not really worth resurrecting aqemu (vintage 2016)?

Qemu has had a large number of option changes as well as deprecated
features. These changes make aqemu pretty much useless, unless you drop
to qemu-2.4.x or qemu-2.6.x

There was some movement a while back and a move to github when the
original authors dropped out and it was taken over.

Got it. Of course, you can't really talk about aqemu without talking
about qemu as it is just a front end. The reason aqemu was dropped was
when qemu added features and changed command line options, aqemu failed.

Since qemu is now 2.8/2.9 series and was 2.6/2.7 when aqemu-0.9.2 was
released, we need to do a bit more testing for SBo. I don't mind - I
liked aqemu back when and was sad when it went dormant.

No; that may be the version they stopped at years ago. I'm using 2.9.2

To clarify/fix what I said above... you confused me. I'm talking about
the AQEMU SlackBuild and am using AQEMU 0.9.2. Sure, I'm using it with
QEMU 2.9.0, but that's not the main topic of my original post.

I'm genuinely curious now, and I a few hours of passive involvement
every day for the remainder of the week, so I'll probably keep at
it. However, you can be the maintainer :)

Robby,
Since I have qemu, I was going to check "soon" (later today?) and maybe
take it on. I used aqemu ages ago (qemu 1.4?) and liked it - way
simpler than wrestling with virt-manager/libvirt for features I'll never
use. I already have qt5 built/installed for another program.

However, if you are just dying to take on another task...far be it from
me to stand in the way of your happiness ;-)

This new version requires qt5, but it shouldn't be problematic
otherwise. I'll look into bringing it back since upstream is
alive again.

Lots of architectural changes, also screwed up all my shells scripts
as there is no longer a qemu just a bunch of qemu-* and
qemu-system-* for the various architectures. aqemu can't select
correct options (eg all I get are ARM for cpu type and machine
type!). symlink works kind-of but still can't get reliable
creation/boot of images. Interestingly enough, the qemu docs are not
updated for this change.

Might be best to either pull aqemu or add a note about upgrading qemu.

I'm confused. All of this works fine here after this commit:

Nope, I'm the one who's confused. I didn't see the patches, just that
the version was the same and fired up the package I already had from
awhile back. Silly me. That ought to teach me to double/triple
check...or maybe not ;-)
