1) I *really* don't like the idea of running a CD burner off a USB bus.
The burn is very slow, and really pushes the limits of how much data you
can fit through USB. Don't even think about plugging the burner into a
hub with other devices, and expect to end up with a few more coasters
than you're used to.

2) http://www.linux-usb.org has a Working Devices list. Also of
interest there will be the linux-usb mailing list.

3) Just off the top of my head, the Iomega ZipCDs are reported to work
fairly well.

The ps2 mouse handling is done in pc_keyb.c, as this handles the ps2
keyboard as well. ( At least in all the kernels after 2.2.17, I have
nothing early on hand to check).

Searching for PSMOUSE should find the relevant bits, or for
aux_request_irq.

[SLUG] Buying a usb connected CD burner

2002-02-07 Thread Bill Bennett

Could anyone point me, please, at a site that will
give me information on the buying of a CD burner
that will operate the usb of my laptop and will
operate on a Linux driver?

Sorry if this seems trivial, but I shook Microsoft loose some
time ago and I'm anxious to continue.

Regards,

Bill Bennett

I must be blind. It works fine on br0. Well, at least on the 100mbit side of
the bridge. ;)

Yep, that boots fine, but halts at various stages, and I can't determine
why. So, following Gus's howto, I tried building my own bootpable kernel.
Here is my latest problem:

:/tmpdir# mount -t msdos rescue.bin /tmp/fdimage -o loop
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0,
or too many mounted file systems

man mount didn't enlighten me at all, do I need to edit /etc/fstab?

Thanks,
Rob
