 Hi,

I have a HP 9000 K-Class server that has been sitting around for a few
years with the intension of doing something with it but it never quite
happened and I have decided it probably will not happen, so if someone
wants it they can have it.

 I think it is a 200 or 400 series.

I checked at home it is a K250 with at least 2 160 MHz processors (can
take a maximum of 4 I am not sure if the other 2 are installed)

I cannot remember what speed or how
many processors it has but it was more than one. I has 1G of memory and a
number of high voltage differential scsi drives and a CDROM.

I will also throw in a Jamacia Box (external SCSI disk enclosure) with at
least 4 4.3G HAS disks in it.

This box will run Debian Linux see http://parisc-linux.org/.

I seem to remember that a key was sheared in the keyswitch and it will
 have to be removed/repaired.

It is heavy about 45 kgs and is about desk height of the floor. It
requires 2 people to lift it.

If you want it you must collect it from Blaxland in the lower Blue Mountains.

Contact me off list if you are interested.

[SLUG] HP test drive machines?

2006-03-02 Thread Erik de Castro Lopo
Hi all,

HP used to have a set of test dive machines available for things
like testing code on ia64:

http://www.testdrive.hp.com/

I hadn't used these systems in a while but tried to log in today
without any luck. I can log into the testdrive web site, select
a machine I would like to use but when I try to log into the
actual machine I get a login incorrect message.

Has anyone used these systems recently? Alternatively, does
anyone know of a similar system where I can get access to
an ia64 machine running Debian or something similar?

Cheers,
Erik

I have an account that I use very intermittently.

When my password expired, I mailed them but the guy

(like weeks) to get around to my request. He may

Linuxworld is a trade show and therefore is never going to be

Maybe you should save your money for LCA in Sydney next year.

[SLUG] old mac with scsi anyone? (Re: [SLUG-ANNOUNCE] ComputerBank Sydney Giveaway)

2006-03-02 Thread Matthew Hannigan

Speaking of old machines does anyone have an old Mac with SCSI
that they want to give away? (I could also buy it if you like!)

Some idiot burglar just stole an old (1989) Mac of mine.

It wouldn't matter except I promised to get some old file of an old
external SCSI hard disk for a friend. I now have old external scsi
disk but no mac. It's got one of those giant old SCSI conectors
(amphenol?)

Is there anyone going to Casula that could check for me?
It's a long way to go on spec, and the URL doesn't mention
anything about the actual hardware.

Matt
PS. borrowing would be good too!

Dan has placed much more info about everything at the following URL:-

plus you can email enquiries to [EMAIL PROTECTED] although Dan's not
going to be able to read it whilst at Casula today Sunday.

Perfect opportunity to fixup an old machine you have or collect one to run
Linux on to experiment with. Heck, pickup a Mac and run PPC linux just for
 the sake of variety.

I'm heading down there for this.

I do work in the industry so it's quite worthwhile for networking,

Or maybe all Slug members could relocate to the Gold Coast so that I

If the drive's readable in Linux, and you can get it to me (work: Crows

of different SCSI cables, and I could try to do it for you.

[SLUG] apache mod-rewrite help

2006-03-02 Thread Michael Fox
Hi,

I am a bit stuck on something and after using the various info
available I still cant get it to work.

Let me explain what I've got and what I want to happen.

I installed mediawiki into /wiki and thus my pages show as
domain/wiki/index.php/Main_Page, so I thought okay lets follow the
info to get mod_rewrite going to mask the index.php bit and allow me
to have the final url cleaner url of

domain/wiki/Main_Page

Unfortunately I cant seem to get it to work, anyone able to give me a
copy of a suitable working .htaccess, as I've tried various changes
and still cant get it to work as I want.

Thanks in advance

Are you involved in the Gold Coast LUG (http://www.goldcoastlinux.com)?

I think Linuxworld will be very interesting, and you'll meet some cool

Hmm, I can only go to one or the other, so I decided on good advise,

Hopefully Ill be able to attend a slug meeting as well.
