[SLUG] Retrieving Data from formatted drive
Are there any linux tools to recover data from formatted drives? I can do this using windows, but wondered if there was a better way. Re: [SLUG] Retrieving Data from formatted drive
Hey Kevin Are there any linux tools to recover data from formatted drives? I can do this using windows, but wondered if there was a better way. I couldn't find anything about a year ago when I needed one. In the end I purchased a copy of Stella Phoenix - http://www.stellarinfo.com/linux-data-recovery.htm I think I got back about 80% of what hadn't been backed up after the drive got formatted (a long story involving disconnecting the wrong drive during an upgrade). I don't know if it's still maintained, but The Coroner's Toolkit (http://www.porcupine.org/forensics/tct.html) used to get a lot of press as being the gold standard for recovering deleted files etc. On 20/07/07, Kevin Waterson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Are there any linux tools to recover data from formatted drives? [SLUG] Rusty migration complete
Rusty's migration is complete. It took slightly longer than expected due to memory issues, but things are back up and running again. [SLUG] Re: Free online Linux Lessons. Yay!
what a find! thx for posting this... i'm about a week away from getting a new computer with ubuntu pre- installed and winter months and holiday rolling up and lots of time to play and learn! these lessons look like an ideal primer rufi On 19 Jul, 23:31, Stephen Black [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: www.linux.org/lessons/ I just thought I would write to recommend this website for all newbies it is devided into 3 sections 1. Getting Started with Linux - Beginner's Course 2. Intermediate Level Linux Course 3. Advanced Linux Course 1. Getting Started with Linux - Beginner's Course I found that this couvered most things I need to know to get me started It mainly deals with the Command line Linux so I would have my browser open and a terminal open and I would just work away at the examples 2. Intermediate Level Linux Course This starts at teaching how to install an rpm and moves on to more advanced subjects like web programming languages and Linux server side software. 3. Advanced Linux Course Contains many subjects which I may pick and choose as I can't see myself needing to know all the content So yes I can recommend it It is by no means exhaustive but is that a realistic expectation?
