 Greetings

I had been puzzling for a while why my combined mail/web/dns server was
getting slower and slower until I realised my mistake. I had
inadvertently left my named available for the entire world to do
recursive queries on. I have since then fixed the problem by only
allowing my 2 local networks the ability. My router (and with it my ADSL
connection) however remains plagued with requests.

Just a quick note of thanks to all who responded. This is obviously not
going to be a case of instant gratification but your comments have set
 me in the right direction.

 Cheers

 Nigel.

As a follow up, the following:

grep denied /var/log/messages*|awk -F '{print $7}'|sed
's/#.*//'|sort -u|wc -l

produced 1545.

Looks like it not just a few :(

Bugger.

Nigel.

[SLUG] Coffee Table Linux

2013-04-08 Thread David Lyon
In Europe, people not only use Linux to power data-centres but also
their coffee tables. Adding LED's to your Linux can give very relaxing
results.

Here's a nice coffee-table probject for Linux along with a
link to the source code:

Thanks for this David.

Perhaps we could have an LED Lighting theme for the May SLUG meeting.
in the spirit of the vivid festival http://www.vividsydney.com/

LEDs are my pet project, but the only link to Linux, so far, has been the
webserver: http://www.ramin.com.au/eco-sydney/LED-Lighting-guide.shtml

Hi Patrick and all,

As it turns out, the Empire Hotel (corner of Johnston St and Parramatta
Road Annandale)
has been refurbished and has reasonably priced food. (They have LED candle
lighting)

A couple of doors down is a LED store - and I might be able to organise
something with him, if this appeals.
