Re: [SLUG] Code Management Database
Hi Maybe it also depends on your IDE. CVS and Subversion doing very well with Eclipse. Cheers, Thomas Am Freitag, 9. September 2005 08:05 schrieb Edwin Humphries: We have several Linux software products, and have recently had enquiries about customised versions for specific customers. We're happy to do it, but I'm looking for a way to manage the codebase so that when we do an upgrade, we can upgrade the customised versions without overwriting the customised code. The code is delicious mix of C, PERL, PHP and bash scripts (don't ask). My understanding is that CVS is not the tool for this job, but does anybody know of a tool that is good for this? -- Thomas Schroeder 8/12 Hill Street Coogee 2034 Australia Phone: +61-2-9665 0005 Mobile: +61-4-0393 6500 eMail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] PGP-Fingerprint: 76CD 8E57 161D 471C D1E5 600C BBBE B9FE FA04 0CD1 -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html

Re: [SLUG] timeline generation software
Hi Benno, gplot should do it I think http://gplot.sourceforge.net/ Cheers, Thomas Am Donnerstag, 18. August 2005 07:33 schrieb Benno: Does anyone know of some (open source) software that will generate a pretty look timeline? I'd like something that takes: 1975 Foo 1976 Bar 1980 Baz 1985 Qar and produces something like this in EPS: + | 1975 19801985 |Foo Baz Qar +-+--+-+--+ 1976 Bar I'm sure I could manually do this in Xfig, but that will take me all day. I'm also sure I could write something myself to do it but that sounds like perverse procrastination, so I'd prefer not to. Re: [SLUG] Switching a website to ssl
Hi To create the cert it is maybe a good idea to look at http://www.cacert.org/ There you can create signed certificates for free. Cheers, Thomas Am Mittwoch, 17. Re: [SLUG] dual authentification
Hi What about splitting the password in two parts?? The application guru will only know the first 4 letters and the admin only the last 4 letters... Does that makes sense?? Cheers, Thomas Am Donnerstag, 4. August 2005 13:22 schrieb Ken Foskey: Got this one today, strange one: Do you know if it is possible to setup a Linux redhat server to require two passwords to gain root access? The responsibilities for the server are going to be split over two different teams and we don't want either to have root access without the other team knowing about it. Please let me know if you can come up with something. Basically they would like to set up the machine so that it requires two people to sign in to root, an application guru and an administrator. If anything is destroyed then they are both accountable as they look over each others shoulders. Re: [SLUG] Company rebranding FOSS and selling it
Hi In the issue 07/2005 of the Linux Magazin (German issue) there is a story about Harald Welte who developed some stuff of the netfilter (netfilter.org). He sued a lot of companies which violates the GPL when they put the netfilter in their router. He started gpl-violations.org ; maybe there are some hints. Cheers, Thomas Am Dienstag, 26. Juli 2005 09:53 schrieb Jeff Grima: Hello, This is my first post. I hope this is a good question. There is a business in Sydney that is re-branding SME (contribs.org aka e-smith) and claiming it as there own. What (if any) is the best course of action to take against this company? A bit more information. This company sells pre-installed SMEserver linux boxes and sells support. I know that is not a crime and i know rebranding some FOSS software isnt a crime also but the bad part is that they claim they developed the software inhouse. They prey on the NOT linux-savvy and their ignorance to the technology. They also do a very poor job of supporting the product. I am not sure of the appropriateness of posting the companies details here but I will do so if enough people think it is appropriate. Also I have alot more information regarding there services.
