[SLUG] Next IntallFest ?

2001-05-02 Thread Adam F. Bogacki

Hi,

(1) when is the next InstallFest due ? I rather liked the Macquarie Uni
location - fairly central and easy to get to by car with plenty of parking
space on a Saturday.

(2) I'm currently having trouble logging in to my RH7 drive. When I try I
get a repeated message suggesting the boot program is doing an iteration, or
loop:

According to /var/run/gdm.pid, gdm was already running (1094) but seems to
have been murdered mysteriously

Is there any serious forensic talent out there ?

Adam Bogacki,
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

P.S. Apologies, but this necessitates posting from my Win 98 drive via
Outlook .

We hadn't planned one thus far, but I'm sure we can cook something up. :) I
wonder if this is in the scope of the UNSW CompSoc Linuxfest? [ I've Cc'ed
this to Jaime too. ]

Sounds like X or gdm are having palpitations. Check the logs in /var/log/gdm
and /var/log/X*

I was actually on the SLUG committee, and still posting in Outlook Express.
Then I did the Big Migration, and never looked back. :)

Probably not, but it might be in the scope of the UNSW CompSoc InstallFest :)

Which afaik is happening this weekend. I don't know what the status is
for people outside uni though. Your best bet would be to email [EMAIL PROTECTED]
and ask them.

We're planning the next years worth of installfests. The goal is to make
them quarterly. There will be a national installfest in August, the
previous being in March. There may be one in between. Keep an eye on the
list as details will be announced here.
