Just bring a plane and we will park you at some spot off the
coast/mountian/rock/building. There is 1200 miles of California
coast line and another 600 miles or so of the Sierra Range plus a
zillion mystery spots that everyone claimed to be the best place.
Pick one.

Although this is hardly the best place to fly, the picture is pretty
neat. The valet parking attendants ignore my '67 Dodge.

[RCSE] Zero lift angle/Guideline

1999-01-16 Thread Bill Swingle

The zero lift angle can be approximated by simply using the value
of the foil's camber.

Meaning 2% camber equals a zero lift angle of -2 degrees.

Re: Re: [RCSE] Help on spider foam conclusions:

1999-01-16 Thread JMC3ROB

I had the same problem when I was cutting the airfoils being used for Dr.
Michael Selig's wind tunnel test. The solution I came up with was to cut in
two half size (short wing) sections and join them together. My theory on the
problem was that the cutting wire did not have an accurate circular
cross-section and therefore would tend to twist and wander around on long
cuts. If that is the case, then I would think that a larger diameter under
more tension would do better. Of course having very accurate round wire
would help too (if that is the problem).

[RCSE] SF Bay, California

The Best Flying Site?

My favorite spot is Windy Hill with an east wind. Windy Hill is on the San
Francisco Bay peninsula just above Palo Alto and Stanford University.

It features a nice smooth hill face 2000' tall with smooth air and loads of
lift.

The view is absolutely spactacular, all the way from Downtown San Francisco
and the Bay Bridge on the left, to the Oakland Hills and Mt. Diablo, to all
of the South Bay and San Jose to the right. Behind is the Pacific Ocean and
the Redwood Forests. Remember to keep your eye on your plane !!!

You can see a map of many of the wonderful flying spots in the SF Bay area at:

[RCSE] JR 10X Advanced programming guide V1.2 in Acrobat (.pdf) format

1999-01-16 Thread Augusto Arevalo

Hello everyone,

Thanks to the readers who sent me suggestions for the
JR 10X programming guide.

After adding a few lines and some notes for different
programming flavors Version 1.2 of the JR 10X
programming guide has been uploaded in .pdf (Acrobat)
format.

To read the JR 10X guide go to
http://www.angelfire.com/sd/RCSoaring/ and click on
the "Download the JR 10X 6 servo Glider advanced
Programming Guide V1.2 in (.PDF format)" link.

If you want to save it into your hard drive for later
viewing:

When using Internet Explorer: Right click and select
"Save Target as..."
When using Netscape Navigator: Right-CLick and select
"Save link as..."

Now with the ".pdf" format you don't need to have
Microsoft Word to view the guide. You only need
Acrobat Reader which can be downloaded from the
http://www.adobe.com site.

Enjoy.
