Well Craig there is a lot of information and commentary in your
message. If I care to comment.

It's too bad for Don that he is in a state that is forcing illegal
immigrants, (low paid), out of the state or the unlikely, back to the
country they came from. If the US Government would get off their a$$
and create an immigration policy every business in America would at
least have a level playing field in regards to employment
costs. (And if you donate enough $$ your business could benefit by
being on the best part of the level field.)
Protection of the dollar starts by having a strong fiscal policy and
having trade protection against dangerous and inferior products that
Americans cannot seem to buy enough of. Seems like the government
and many citizens are just living for today and buying everything
that they can. Fun for short term, but now we are paying the price,
thus making our imported toys too expensive.

I know many ICON fliers none of them fit in the prissy
category. Perhaps California is living up to it's reputation. ;-)

Mmmm Pumpkin Pie... Do you make your own crust? Flame suit? You
should just try a couple of Ove Gloves now with silicone grips,
very coool. :-)

Craig I am almost certain you did not attain level 3 at age 10, so,
eat your heart out man, good for you. But does she cook and
clean? :-) Just be careful on what you wish for. :-)
I guess I see the reason for still being at Level 3. Gee, DP
manages to attain high RC soaring status and to have a GF, now that's
cool. You need to ask him how he does it. :-))) Of course now that
I think of it maybe he is just researching names for his next sailplane.

[RCSE] Passion about Icon 2, is it the wingspan?

2007-12-19 Thread GordySoar

Key word ILLEGAL NOT an immigrant

Weird somehow some posts from [EMAIL PROTECTED]
(mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]) got woven into the Icon2 thread and to our
hallowed rc soaring site, you know the only place specifically set up for guys
who actually build and fly rc sailplanes can go to enjoy rc soaring stuff...go
figure :-)

I'm not sure how the Icon's new 150 wing span might illegal but I can
understand immigrant, as in the success of the Sharon at 144 and the
Insanity,
now the Aspire confirms that span is a fun and valuable thing...and can be
managed construction wize, weight and transport wize. Weight and construction
has made the span a non issue when it comes to the landing zone

and It could be argued that the bigger span can actually help in the landing
zone.

It will be very interesting to see where the price point is for what should
be another premium star of a sailplane.

I suppose out of reach of most working sailplaners could be an applicable
key word.

[RCSE] Horizon Hobby Good Guy Report

2007-12-19 Thread Rick Bothell
I sent in two JR 8103 transmitters. One for a switch replacement and one just to get checked out. They replaced the switch, a battery and serviced them both. Boy was I happy and surprisedwhen I got them back promptly and with NO CHARGE. Horizon Hobby, How can you stay in business with service like that? Thanks a bunch. Happy thermals, Rick

[RCSE] Icon2, its all about the wingspan...

2007-12-19 Thread Craig Allen
Your right Gordy.. Dam I hate saying that :-) LoL. Its all about the
wingspan.

When I went searching for my first TD plane in over 20 years, I searched the
internet for the biggest plane I could find... A German friend mentioned this
new plane... Strange, It had a woman's name.. After doing some more searching I
discovered the German team was using this funny named plane and doing quite
well... I looked and looked for an American distributor and found none so I had
my German friend buy one for me and ship it over in a very sturdy plywood box.
Cost me a fortune :-)

When I showed up at the local field everyone asked what my big V tailed plane
was called...

Sharon I said :-) Everyone looked puzzled and said they had never heard of it..

But I was afraid to fly the dam thing for over a year... It was just too
Perdy. Then I meet Tom Hoops at Visalia the next year and he helped me maiden
the dam thing Been flying it ever since without a crash :-)

Craig.. PS... So yes I would love an Icon2, but I know my bank account won't :-(

Sailplane maunfacturers should tak a clue from the insurance industry. They
should withdraw a monthly premium from your bank account, and then decide
whether or not you are eliglible to receive the latest and greatest sailplane
for
the flying season, presumably there would be some sort of co-pay arrangement.
They would then assess their responsibility to provide you with any spare parts
you may need based on how much of your deductible you have satisfied in that
year and whether or not your propensity for crashing is hereditary. You would
still pay tons of money for a sailplane but at least you could get one and the
manufacturers would gain viability, hell, they might even sell stock and have
lobbyists representing them in Washington, DC.
