[RCSE] So what did you guys think of the SWC RCSD issue?

2008-03-20 Thread GordySoar
If you have not taken a look you need to! Skip Richards did a fantastic job
of capturing the event via images and Iian's historical account really
showed how a major can develop from just a desire to have some fun with
friends.

Let's hear your comments! Time for you soaring guys to chime in with your
reviews!

You all do know that its a 'free' download right? ;)

[RCSE] Special Sportube TSA lock now offered!

2008-03-20 Thread GordySoar
_http://www.sportube.com/pages/TSA_lock.html_
(http://www.sportube.com/pages/TSA_lock.html)

I'd been making my own gizmo up to use the standard TSA lock on my tubes,
comprised of a 3/16 carriage bolt with its end flattened and drilled to fit
the
 hook of the TSA lock.

For those of you who don't know it, you can't use 'locks' on baggage any
more, but you can use the special TSA lock, which is a combo lock with a key
slot for TSA agents to open the lock to inspect baggage.

No need now that there is this cable version.

IF you were thinking of getting a Sportube...well its a case of Wait and
Wailthey are out and have been for awhile. Best bet is to see if Barry
Kennedy has a used one he might part with since he uses them to ship planes to
customers.

[RCSE] Larry Jolly is Quite a Guy, Equiping Our Lil Lee for the Masters!

2008-03-20 Thread GordySoar
Hi guys,

LJ probably wouldn't want me blabbing this ,but after seeing a photo of our
little Lee chucking his Oly with my heavy bungee, it struck Larry that his old
Supra ought to be flying under Lee's guidance.

So today a Sportube shows up at the house and inside is the Supra, servo'd,
battery'd and even RX'd!
Complete with molded slip on skeg!...even sporting a field patch to the fuse
by (don't let them fix yours!) DP and Mike Smith :-).

Lee told me this weekend that he thought he'd likely be getting a full house
of A's on his report card this round...got to keep that in the context that
when he first showed up at our flying site, (totally annoying me by crashing
his little electric junk on the winch lines.!)...he was pushing for making
even some D's

We are very proud of him and he's become my flying buddy, now that most of
the local guys are busy with life the universe and DLGs :-(.

If you'd like to see a post, choke-up photo of Lee, post me off line and
I'll shoot you one of him holding the contents of the Sportube...better wear
some sort of eye protection...his grin is pretty big!

I hear lots of guys wringing hands and lamenting about what it takes to get
young'ns back into the hobby...well there are a few guys out there that know
the answer to that...mentoring. LJ is a few thousand miles away as are others
who have contributed to Lee's soaring via the I Beat Gordy Buttons...but I
can tell you LJ's put his stuff where his heart is on this one. No wonder he
qualified to be a part of our National F3J World Team! (You get what you
give - apparently applies to this hobby too :)

Thanks to all you soaring guys who contribute to the hobby in all the ways
possible..CDs, Winch Masters, Club Officers, article writers, photo
journalists (thanks again Skip Richards!) and of course our suppliers.

He'll be using a the TX donated by John Diniz a while back on 72... the
phrase 2.4 will have to remain only a reference to his height for awhile :-)

Gordy
PS, his primary mentor is our own LSF past VP and now Current VP..Ed
Wilson...you can contact Ed directly if you want (and Lee) at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] (mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED])
Its a good day in Louisville :)

2008-03-20 Thread GordySoar
That the long span fully 'organic' wing, not molded a molded skin center
section.

I always liked the look of it and need something for a building project.
Even if its got some damage, I'm up for it.

[RCSE] Off Topic--Info you need to know

2008-03-20 Thread A. B. Lyles

*Subject: Fwd: New car thieves

*
THE 3 X 5 CARD WORKS GREAT, I'VE ALREADY COVERED MY NUMBER.

GENIE

How easy is this ?

*Subject:* New car thieves

VIN NUMBER

Here is info worth the price of your car...What will the car thieves
think of next? The thieves peer through the windshield of your car or
truck, write down the VIN # from the label on the dash, go to the local
car dealership and request a duplicate key based on the VIN #. I didn't
believe this e-mail, so I called Chrysler-Dodge and pretended I had lost
my keys They told me to just bring in the VIN #, and they would cut me
one on the spot, and I could order the keyless device if I wanted.

The Car Dealer's Parts Department will make a duplicate key from the VIN
#, and collect payment from the thief who will return to your car; He
doesn't have to break in, do any damage to the vehicle, or draw
attention to himself. All he has to do is walk up to your car, insert
the key and off he goes to a local Chop Shop with your vehicl e. You
don't believe it? It IS that easy.

To avoid this from happening to you, simply put some tape (electrical
tape, duct tape or medical tape) across the VIN Metal Label located on
the dash board. By law, you cannot remove the VIN, but you CAN cover it
so it can't be viewed through the windshield by a car thief. I urge you
to forward this to your friends before some other car thief steals
another car or truck. I slipped a 3 x 5 card over the VIN number.
