[RCSE] F3J Fundraiser

2008-05-03 Thread ktlkrn
Come on guys, yesterday I put up a challenge to raise money for our F3J team. I
offered $100 and stand by that. So far nobody has stepped to the plate.

For those buying jackets, that is good but good old cash will be even more
helpful.

Lets get on board and donate some money.

[RCSE] I'm going to miss Ben...a lot.

2008-05-03 Thread GordySoar
My traveling makes me a lucky guylucky because I get a chance to spend
time with the really great guys of our hobby.

One of my luckiest meetings was when I first met Ben Cleveland, he and Don
became two of my closest flying friends, we didn't spend all that many times
together but when we were together it was as if we'd been pals all our RC
lives.

I got lucky again not a month or two back when Ben let me be his timer at
one of the Orlando Buzzard club contests.

I am very sad to hear that he has moved on, I'm going to miss his hand shake
and smile sorry Don.

[RCSE] Not soaring related - Unofficial WORLD RECORD

2008-05-03 Thread Hilaunch
Today at the Southeast Electric Fun Fly 100 R/C models were airborne
simultaneously for more than one minute. The pilots were spread out along a
1700 ft
grass runway at Mac Hodges' private airfield in Andersonville, GA (site of
the SEFF). Models were launched in 5 separate waves about 10 seconds apart
and the minute timing began when the last model was airborne. Unofficially,
the group included 53 2.4 Ghz systems and 47 72 Mhz systems. Unofficially,
there were no problems with the 2.4 systems, but there were a few, undefined,
problems with some 72 Mhz systems. There should be a full report on RC groups
in a day or so and a published report in Model Aviation Magazine in a few
months.

I was proud to be a participant in this effort.

[RCSE] 72 MHz Stuff for Sale including Multiplex Evo(s)

2008-05-03 Thread bgtwining
I am close to having all my fleet converted to 2.4 GHz. I have 2 - 12
Channel Multiplex Evo Transmitters with synthesized modules. I have been
using both on and off but my primary one has a little paint coming off the
bottom of the case. It also has a frequency scanner that looks for someone
else on your frequency every time you turn on. The scanner can be put in
either transmitter. I also have 1 non-synthesized module that can be fit
with Multiplex transmitter crystals (I have a couple). These are absolutely
great sailplane radios and I have flown regular sport models and helicopters
as well. They can be modified for 2.4 GHz with the XPS system which has a
module made just for the Evo or Spectrum (there is an RCGroups thread that
talks about modifying the Spektrum modules for JR or Futaba transmitters
which is fairly straight forward). The current street price of the 12 ch
synthesized Evo is $519. The street price for the frequency scanner is $109.
I want to sell one of the Evos now and will post the one that is left after
the F5J in the Rockies contest (in case my 2.4 GHz system does not work).
Both Evos have programs for full house TD, F5J, F5B, Hand Launch, sport
electric and a helicopter. You can look at these for programming tips or
reset the whole transmitter and start from scratch.

Here is what is for sale now:

1 - Evo 12 Ch Synthesized Transmitter with some minor paint chipping on the
bottom of the transmitter (without scanner) - $330

or

1 - Evo 12 Ch Synthesized Transmitter in like new condition - $360

The following is also for sale now:

1 - Scanner - $75 - this can go in either transmitter.

1 - Fixed frequency module for Evo transmitter with crystal - $40

1 - JR R700 - 7 channel receiver that has been in one sailplane and never
crashed - $40.

1 - Hitec Electron 6 - 6 channel receiver (never crashed) - $25

I will cover the cost of shipping anywhere in the US. If you want one of the
transmitters now, let me know which one.

Thanks for your consideration.
