If you're going to pay that much...Why not just go buy Kapton tape
instead??? Works for all of our applications both normal Tx/Rx and
high-output for electrics. Rather than worrying about different sizes or
configurations, you just wrap your pack with Kapton tape ~ one size fits
all. Just a thought...

Take a look at this one from Tower

$1.89 for a yard of 2.5". The 1.5" is even cheaper. I have both and they
shrink pretty well.

Go here geaorge. He has good pricing, but they are all precut to size. Maybe
you can ask to get longer uncut pieces.

Like I said before, to get 10-25 ft, you are not going to get too
much discount. They usually sell it by the roll.

What are
people using these days for heat shrink tubing when making battery
packs?  I'm aware of "Clearly Superior"  tubing, but
it's not cheap at $1 a foot.  White or clear are what I
prefer.  I'm looking for 10-25' of 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3"
tubing.

gv

George,

I think that is the going rate, unless you buy by the roll
(500 ft -1000 ft depends on the size), then you might get $0.50 a ft.
Not too many places will do cut length for less. Try to find it in
surplus stores.  I never see the thin stuffs in the surplus
places.

[RCSE] heat shrink tubing source?

2001-09-06 Thread Mike Garton

Hi,

I am looking for good sources of inexpensive high quality
heat shrink tubing. I have lots of sources that will
sell me small quantities of the thick kind that does
not shrink much. The good stuff is thin (light) and it
shrinks a lot.

I am looking in particular for at least a few feet
of many sizes 3/32", 1/8", 2.0", 2.5".

Any ideas where to find the stuff?

Clear or colored packing tape works great and it shrinks nicely with a heat gun. It
doesn't get any thinner or cheaper than that! It's what I use for the battery packs in
my

Go to your local electronics supply store and get some 3M heat shrink tubing
of the appropriate size (I think I used 3/4" on my 110s) and color. Around
here (SoCal), $6 buys about 4 feet of it.
