Yeay! Now that's something I can use to install SoaS! I posted a message here a while ago, asking how to install SoaS without Windows. I am glad someone whipped up a way to do this. > This USB when booted will have liveusb-creator (with extra command > --reset-mbr ) as a sugar application ( large O ) on f3 ring. > (or command line in sugar terminal) With the first SoaS stick installed, I should be able to use that to install to second and subsequent sticks. Thanks. Great work! ___ SoaS mailing list SoaS@lists.sugarlabs.org http://lists.sugarlabs.org/listinfo/soas
Re: [SoaS] Installing SoaS to USB MSD using Linux
Thank you for all your replies! I've looked at: > http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Category:Live_USB > http://people.sugarlabs.org/sdz/ As well as: > http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Sugar_on_a_Stick/Blueberry > http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Sugar_on_a_Stick/Strawberry Unfortunately all of these instructions assume the distro the user is running is Fedora/Ubuntu/OpenSUSE. I'm looking for generic Linux install instructions, that will work on any distro. The closest I've found is this script: http://download.sugarlabs.org/soas/releases/livecd-iso-to-disk.sh linked to from http://people.sugarlabs.org/sdz/. It provides all the commands to install SoaS, but it's incredibly complicated! If there is any documentation for this script, or any "manual" install instructions, I would appreciate it if someone could point me to them. Thanks! ___ SoaS mailing list SoaS@lists.sugarlabs.org http://lists.sugarlabs.org/listinfo/soas
[SoaS] Installing SoaS to USB MSD using Linux
Hello... I'm brand new to SoaS, and hoping to help a local school with it. But, before I do that, I need to figure out how to install SoaS so I can become familiar with it first. :) Can anyone explain how to install SoaS to a USB drive using Linux? The SoaS wiki appears to have executables for installing from Windows, but that doesn't help me. :( I'd imagine it'd be as simple as untarring a filesystem, changing a few config files, and partitioning correctly, but I can't find any instructions on how to do this. Help, anyone? ___ SoaS mailing list SoaS@lists.sugarlabs.org http://lists.sugarlabs.org/listinfo/soas
