The venture firm said its LPs include JP Morgan, BlackRock Private Equity Partners, Fairview Capital, and Invesco Private Capital, along with Hall Capital, Hamilton Lane, Greenspring Associates, and Cambridge Associates and a number of foundations and educational institutions. Greycroft is split between Los Angeles and New York, and has invested in such local companies as uSamp, AdLy, HipSwap, GameSalad, Scopely, Steelhouse, and Viddy, just to name a few. The company said Greycroft III will follow the same strategy as its prior two funds, focusing on B2B and B2C Internet and mobile companies, with an emphasis on smaller, Series A rounds. Greycroft's efforts in LA are headed by Dana Settle; the firm's venture partners also include Amplify LA's Paul Bricault. Black Friday Spending Up In 2012, Hits $1.042 Billion ---- According to numbers released over the weekend by Internet traffic and e-commerce measurement service comScore, online Black Friday sales surged 26 percent from last year, and totaled $1.042 billion. The company said that U.S. retail, e-commerce spending on Friday was the heaviest, online spendin day to date in 2012. The firm tallied sales of $633M on Thanksgiving. The big Black Friday sales bring total online sales to $13.7 billion for the holiday season so far. Online retailers traditionally have seen their biggest sales online today, Cyber Monday, as people head back to work and take advantage of online sales; comScore said it expects to see sales approaching $1.5 billion or higher today due to all that shopping. BeachMint Plans Live Shopping Event ---- BeachMint, the e-commerce firm led by Josh Berman, said this morning that it is holding a live shopping and broadcast event today for Cyber Monday. The Santa Monica company--which runs a large portfolio of celebrity-themed, social shopping sites--said it is partnering with Ustream, Who What Wear, and StyleList for the event. The online broadcast will feature ShoeMint's Rachel Bilson, Nicole Chavez, intiMINT's Brooke Burke-Charvet, as well as other celebrities. http://www.cybermint.tv/ Ceres, Syngenta In Market Development Deal ---- Thousand Oaks-based Ceres, the developer of seeds for the energy and biofuels industry, said today that its Brazilian subsidiary, Ceres Sementes do Brasil Ltda., is in a deal with Syngenta to develop sweet sorghum-based products to power Brazil's ethanol mills. The two said they will collaborate on small-scale trials and larger demonstration field evaluations of its hybrid seeds. Financial details of the deal were not announced. The two said that Brazil has more than 400 ethanol mills who potentially would use crops based on its seeds. Volcano Corporation Buys Sync-Rx ---- San Diego-based Volcano Corporation, a developer of diagnostic tools for treating coronary and peripheral vascular disease, said Friday that it has acquired Sync-Rx Ltd., an Israeli software firm developing image processing products.Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Volcano said that Sync-Rx developing software applications that optimize and facilitate transcatheter cardiovascular interventions using automated online image processing. DogVacay Reaches Million Dollar Milestone ---- DogVacay, the online marketplace that connects pet owners with other people willing to watch and board their pets, said this week that it has reached the 1 millionth dollar paid out to its hosts. The startup--which just raised a $6M, Series A funding round a few weeks ago--offers a peer-to-peer marketplace which lets dog owners pet sit for other pet owners. The firm vets the hosts for its service, and also provides an Internet-enabled service to let owners see how their dogs are doing and more. The funding round earlier this month came from Benchmark Capital, First Round Capital, Science Inc., and others. The Los Angeles startup was created after founders Aaron and Karine Nissim Hirschhorn started watching other people's dogs as a sideline, and found that there was a lot of demand for similar services from people not satisfied with leaving their loved pets at impersonal, gigantic dog boarding facilities. RingRevenue Gets $3.25M For Call Marketing Automation ---- Santa Barbara-based RingRevenue, which develops call marketing automation technology, said last week that it has raised $3.25M in a funding round. The round was led by GRP Partners and Rincon Venture Partners. RingCon said the new funding will go towards aggressively expanding sales, marketing, and software development. RingRevenue is headed by Jason Spievak. The firm had disclosed the funding earlier this month via a regulatory filing. RingRevenue said that in 2012, advertisers have generated more than $200M worth of sales using its technology. RingRevenue's call tracking and marketing tools are used to filter and track phone calls to call centers from online advertising eforts. http://www.socaltech.com/ringrevenue_raises_3___m/s-0046056.html Hulu Plus Rolls Out On Wii U ---- Hulu, the online video streaming service, has rolled out on the new Nintendo Wii U console, the Los Angeles firm said last week. Hulu said that the new Wii U console supports both the usual access to current TV shows, as well as a second screen experience driven by the Wii U GamePad controller.
