Quorum Gets $11M From Former Quest CEO Vinny Smith's New Venture Firm
----
There's a new venture investor in town, thanks to Dell. Vinny Smith,
the former CEO of Aliso Viejo-based Quest Software, appears to have
become one of the most active investors in recent months in enterprise
software, after starting up a new venture capital firm, Toba Capital.
The latest investment from Toba is in backup, recovery, and business
continuity appliance provider Quorum, based in San Jose, which
reported an $11M Series B funding this morning from Toba Capital and
Airtek Capital Group.   (More...)

DecisionPoint Systems Gets $10M In Line Of Credit From SVB
----
Irvine-based DecisionPoint Systems, which provides integration of
enterprise mobility and wireless applications, announced this morning
that it has received $10M in a line of credit. The credit line comes
from Silicon Valley Bank. Terms of the new line of credit were not
disclosed, however, DecisionPoint Systems said the new line of credit
has improved terms than an earlier, line of credit.

DTS Gets Win In India
----
Calabasas-based audio technology provider DTS reports this morning
that it has signed a customer in India for its surround sound
technology. DTS said that Spice Mobiles, a mobile handset brand in
India, will use its DTS Sound technology in its latest smartphones.
Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. DTS said its technology
will begin shipping in Spice Mobiles' smartphones in May.

Kurion Signs Partner
----
Irvine-based nuclear waste management technology provider Kurion said
today that it has signed on a new partner, Perma-Fix Environmental
Services, a provider of nuclear and mixed waste management. Kurion
said that Perma-Fix will deploy its GeoMelt In-Container Vitrification
technology, in such areas as nuclear power plants, and other nuclear
waste streams. Financial details of the deal were not annoucned by the
companies. Kurion is developing a number of technologies around
nuclear waste cleanup and disposal. The company is venture backed by
Lux Capital Management, Firelake Capital Management, and Acadia Woods
Partners.

SideCar Debuts Ridesharing App In LA
----
Need a lift, but don't have a car? Ridesharing app SideCar is the
latest, peer-to-peer, smartphone-driven, ridesharing app to debut in
Los Angeles, letting people find drivers willing to give them a ride
around the city. SideCar--which quietly launched February 15--said it
has begun accepting rides city-wide, teaming up app users with drivers
who are willing to give other people a lift around town for a

Peregrine Semiconductor Licenses Technology To Murata
----
San Diego-based radio frequency chipmaker Peregrine Semiconductor said
Monday afternoon that it is in a intellectual property deal with
Murata. Peregrine said it is in the midst of a collaboration agreement
with Murata, where Murata would design and manufacture RF switches and
other switch-related components utilizing  its technology and
intellectual peroperty. Financial details of the relationship were not
announced. The companies said the deal is expected to result in an
expanded source of supply for Peregrine's RF components.

Arkami Racks Up Over $300K For Secure USB Drive MyIDKey
----
Technology veterans Tareq Risheq and Mark Thacker are no strangers to
the world of high tech startups and angel and venture capital--Risheq
was formerly CEO of Celllynx, Thacker was co-founder at
Datallegro--but the way they're funding their newest startup is
unusual, and a testament to the growing popularity of crowdfunding.

Nero Debuts New Photo Sharing App
----
Nero, the developer of consumer video, photo, and media software
management products which bases its U.S. operations in Glendale, has
rolled out a brand new product to help users share photos on their
iPhone and iPad.  Nero said its new NeroKwik software for iPhone and
iPad allows users to share their photos across the web, Facebook,
Google+, iOS, and Android, via its mobile photo sharing service. The
new mobile software is currently free.
