Shopzilla Buys Connexity
----
Los Angeles-based Shopzilla, the online comparison shopping site owned
by Symphony Technology Group (STG), announced today that it has
acquired Ventura-based Connexity, the programmatic media buying
company led by Dave Gross. Financial terms of the buy were not
disclosed. According to Shopzilla, it will use the acquisition of
Connexity to help bolster Aisle A, its "Audience Activation" division.
Shopzilla said that Connexity's entire team will be joining Aisle A.
Connexity was venture backed by Rincon Venture Partners, Siemer
Ventures, and Persistence Partners. Gross is the former founder of
Internet advertising firm Fastclick. The acquisition looks to be the
first from the set of clients at Ventura Ventures Technology Center
(V2TC), the startup incubator facility in Ventura.

OpenX Names Fuelling CFO
----
Los Angeles-based OpenX appears to be continuing to bolster its
executive ranks--and a possible IPO bid--with the naming of Tom
Fuelling, the former CFO of Hulu, as its Chief Financial Officer this
morning. According to OpenX, it has appointed Fuelling to the post of
Chief Financial Officer, to oversee the company's accounting,
financial planning and analysis, and talent and organization
functions. Fuelling helped launch Hulu, having been one of the
original executives at the streaming television company, and also
served as CFO at such companies as Ascent Media Network Services (part
of Liberty Media); ARTISTdirect, and Village Roadshow Pictures, in
addition to serving at accounting firm PriceWaterhouse. Fuelling was
at ARTISTdirect when it went through its own IPO.

Hulu Names New CTO
----
Los Angeles-based streaming television provider Hulu said Tuesday that
it has named Tian Lim as its new Chief Technology Officer. Lim was
most recently SVP of Product Engineering at Sony Network Entertainment
International, heading up that company's team which provided client
and service engineering for the PlayStation Store on the web, PS3 and
PS4. He also served at Microsoft, leading development on Xbox Live,
the Xbox 360 operating system, and Kinect. Hulu said that Lim replaces
Brad Suter, who had been overseeing the company's technology team on
an interim basis.

Tinder Goes Viral In Antartica
----
Just how far and wide is the virality of Los Angeles-based Tinder?
According to a report from New York Magazine, Tinder has made it to
yet another continent: Antarctica. The app, which lets users vote
"yes" or "no" on other users they would or would not like to
me--apparently helped connect (but not hook up) two scientists
deployed for research there at two different research stations.
Antarctica hosts between a thousand to three thousand people, mostly
scientists and support personnel conducting research on the continent.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Boingo said that it

city, and will provide mobile Wi-Fi service for visitors and residents
in high traffic areas of the city, along with its convention and
