How Frequency Wants To Bring You Internet Video, with Blair Harrison
----
Just before the holidays, we caught up with Blair Harrison, founder of
Frequency (www.frequency.com), a personal video service which lets
consumers watch video from the Internet on any of their devices.
Harrison created one of the Internet's first video search sites,
FastTV, and also ran IFILM, which he sold to Viacom in 2006. We caught
up with Blair to learn more about his new startup, and why he thinks
we need Frequency.

What is Frequency?

Blair Harrison: Frequency is an Internet video service. We connect
consumers to great content from around the Internet, from social
networks, from thousands of branded video channels, and around any
particular topic (More...)

Cooley Attorneys Setting Up Venture Fund
----
Silicon Valley law firm Cooley LLP made some big waves in July with an
expansion into "Silicon Beach" and a new office in Santa Monica.
Today, a report says that a number of the firm's attorneys have
created a new startup investment fund, to specifically invest in
interesting startups, to allow the firm's attorneys to invest in
companies. It's not uncommon for law firms serving the startup
community to hold investments in companies, and those law firms
occasionally take equity in exchange for discounted or waived fees in
startups they serve. It's unclear how and if the new venture fund will
invest in any of the firm's new Silicon Beach clients.

January 12, Pasadena -- Serious Games for Simulation, Education and the
Enterprise. Caltech/MIT Enterprise Forum. ‘Game,’ the phoneme, has spread
its wings far beyond familiar "teenage" video games: it now embraces a
variety of new and important applications. Evolving from pre-computer
roots (e.g., "war games" for critical military exercises), today key
computer simulations and training (variously dubbed "games") increasingly
permeate the government world. Likewise, a wide variety of tasks, from
corporate training to childhood education, have been variously recast in a
"game" context with dimensions and purposes quite beyond simple "fun and
entertainment." Today’s program looks at the entrepreneurial / innovation
context of the what-why-how of "serious games" in important social and
commercial endeavors, exploring various facets such as applications,
platforms, areas for growth, investment landscape, and how it all meshes
with the undeniable lure of playing gamesNEW . See
