Goldstar Debuts iOS App, Now Over $100M In Revenues
----
Pasadena-based discount event ticketing service Goldstar announced
this morning that it has launched a new, iOS app to help its members
discover events and purchase event tickets. The company, which was
co-founded and is led by Jim McCarthy, also revealed that the company
will have over $100 million in sales this year. Goldstar said the new
app includes integration with Apple's Passbook, includes user reviews
and event information, search tools, and more. The app is available in
the Apple iOS store. Goldstar's service lets users get huge discounts
on tickets, by connecting them with last minute event tickets. The
company works with venues to help fill unsold seats to consumers who
might not have been aware of events. Goldstar has so far been fully
bootstrapped by its founders.

Teledyne Acquires Marine Sensor and Engineering Firm
----
Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies, the diversified provider of
scientific instrumentation, digital imaging products, defense
electronics, systems, and other products, said this morning that it
has acquired marine engineering firm C.D. Limited (CDL), which is
headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland. Financial details of the buy were
not disclosed. Teledyne said that CDL is a supplier of subsea inertial
navigation systems and motion sensors for a variety of marine
applications. Those sensors are used in remotely operated vehicles
(ROVs) and other systems. Teledyne said CDL's products include
gyrocompasses, attitude and heading reference systems, and inertial
navigation systems. CDL will be renamed Teledyne CDL Limited.

BeachMint Expands Product Line
----
Santa Monica-based BeachMint said Monday that it is expanding its
product line via its JewelMint web site, with a new collection of
jewelry from designer Richard Chai. The company--which runs JewelMint,
StyleMint, ShoeMint and intiMINT--said the new products are part of
the "JewelMint Studio Series Collection", where it is providing
jewelry collections from award winning designers, at its accessible
price points. BeachMint's investors include Accel Partners, Anthem
Ventures, Goldman Sachs, Lightbank, Millennium Technology Value
Partners, New Enterprise Associates, New World Ventures, Scale Venture
Partners, Stanford University, and Trinity Ventures.

FreedomPop Links With Telespree
----
Los Angeles-based FreedomPop, the venture-backed startup which is
offering up both free broadband as well as free phone service, said
today that it has selected Telespree Communications to provide
real-time data services for its 3G/4G LTE smartphones and data
devices. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Telespree
is a provider of mobile services to carriers, including mobile
marketing services, seesion monitoring, real-time charging, and more.
The two said that FreedomPop is using Telespree's service to control
access to VoIP and data on its newly launched FreedomPop Phone. The
two companies said they plan to use the integration to offer up
special promotions and offers, advertising, and more to FreedomPop's
users.

DriveCam Wins Wisconsin Trucking Company
----
San Diego-based fleet management and driver monitoring products
provider DriveCam reported a win this morning with trucking operator
Veriha Trucking. DriveCam said the Wisconsin-based company will roll
out its products to its entire fleet. Size of the deal was not
announced. DriveCam's systems use both data and video to help fleet
managers better manage their drivers, including monitoring driving
behavior and fuel consumption.

DTS Adds UltraViolet Decoding To PowerDVD
----
Calabasas-based audio encoding technology provider DTS said today that
PowerDVD, the media player from Cyberlink, will support decoding of
the DTS-HD format from new UltraViolet Common File Format (CFF) files.
CyberLink's PowerDVD player is used to view DVDs, Blu-Ray, and other
media. DTS-HD is an audio encoding scheme for 7.1 channel sound. The
companies said that PowerDVD already supports DTS-HD encoded on
Blu-ray and DVDs, and the new release adds UltraViolet format decoding
support. Financial aspects of the new support were not announced.

Hulu Launches Chromecast For iPhone
----
Los Angeles-based video streaming site Hulu said Monday that it has
launched Hulu Plus for Chromecast on the iPhone, giving the ability
for users to control video on their Chromecast connected TVs. Hulu had
already been offering up Android and iPad support for the app prior to
the new release. Chromecast is Google's online video streaming service
for connected TVs.  According to Hulu, the new support lets users
control video and streaming of Hulu Plus content on Chromecast
connected TVs from the iPhone. Hulu has been working with Google to
develop its Chromecast apps.

Gumiyo Acquired By Talus Labs
----
Los Angeles-based mobile software developer Gumiyo has quietly been
acquired by fellow Los Angeles company Talus Labs, a developer of a
platform used for selling digital products to local businesses.
Financial terms of the buy were not announced. The acquisition
actually occurred in Q2 of this year, but was not formally announced.
Gumiyo's team has already been integrated into Talus Labs. Talus Labs
is backed by Blackstone Capital. Gumiyo co-founder Shuki Lehavi said
the Talus saw an opportunity to deliver the Gumiyo products (such as
MySiteAnywhere.com) to local resellers using its own platform, and to
also offer its own products to Gumiyo's customers.

Microsemi Buys Symmetricom
----
Aliso Viejo-based semiconductor developer Microsemi announced Monday
that it has acquired Symmetricom, a San Jose-based developer of timing
and frequency components. According to Microsemi, it will pay $7.18
per share--or approximately $230M--for Symmetricom. Symmetricom's
chips are used in GPS satellites, for atomic clocks and timekeeping
standards, the power grid, and many other applications. Microsemi said
the deal is a 49 percent premium based on average closing price of
Symmetricom during the last 90 days.

Vicente Capital Invests In Wireless Software Company
----
Los Angeles-based private equity investor Vicente Capital Partners
announced MOnday that it has invested in iBwave Solutions, a Canadian
company providing in-building wireless design software. Financial
details of the investment were not announced. Vicente Capital said
that its Growth Equity Fund, jointly with Farol Asset Management,
acquired a "significant" equity interest in iBwave, which is based in
Montreal, Canada. iBwave said it has over 500 clients worldwide,
including all of the tier-1, wireless operators in North America. The
company's software and associated services are used in the in-building
wireless network design market. Klaus Koch of Vincente Capital
Partners, and Krishnan Ramawami, an advisor to Vicente, are both
joining IBwave's board as part of the funding.

Insightra Medical Gets Funding For Medical Devices
----
Irvine-based Insightra Medical, the developer of a medical device used
for treating hernias, has raised a Series C financing round, the
company announced this morning. Size of the round was not announced.
The funding was co-led by Baird Capital, and also included Tekla
Capital Management. The company said that Michael Liang from Baird
Capital and Frank Gentile from Tekla will both join the company's
board as part of the funding. The funds go towards product
development, sales force growth, and international expansion. The
company's first product is the  Freedom Inguinal Hernia System.
