On NetBSD, see est(4), and machdep.est.frequency.*. I have used this on notebooks. It doesn't appear on my net5501 under netbsd-6. An i5-2310 (desktop) shows multiple frequencies but I have never tried to turn that down. signature.asc Description: PGP signature ___ Soekris-tech mailing list Soekris-tech@lists.soekris.com http://lists.soekris.com/mailman/listinfo/soekris-tech

Temps always low, and died the same way. if you don't live on frozen countries, I would not get a net6501. matheus -- "We will call you Cygnus, the God of balance you shall be." ___ Soekris-tech mailing list Soekris-tech@lists.soekris.com http://lists.soekris.com/mailman/listinfo/soekris-tech

I have a box I would be willing to try this on, as I have it doing similar (generally low-power) things. How does one control the clock frequency? I have a few net6501 that I am not yet using (have been sitting powered off). I am wondering how much is understood about the failure mode, and if setting the clock frequency much lower (half or quarter of max) would reduce heat and the likelihood of failure. For most of my uses, I need a box to do something simple (NTP, low-speed router), and really a net5501 is adequate. signature.asc Description: PGP signature ___ Soekris-tech mailing list Soekris-tech@lists.soekris.com http://lists.soekris.com/mailman/listinfo/soekris-tech
