Re: [Sofia-sip-devel] Administrator needed
Hi Mike, I'm glad to hear from you and hope that this will be a new (re)start of Sofia. Unfortunately I'm afraid that my position is similar to Nikos: I don't think that I'm experienced enough to analyze all changes made by FreeSWITCH... By the way, how far to the (git) history should the evaluation go? Will it be enough to check the master branch only? It would be great if you could briefly describe FreeSWITCH strategy for keeping your version and the official Sofia branch synchronized. When or how often did you merge changes from Sofia to FreeSwitch and back? Thanks, Petr On 8/11/2014 18:51, Michael Jerris wrote: And I am back! Sorry for the delay. Re: [Sofia-sip-devel] Administrator needed
Hi Mike and Kai, Good to have you back. I would like to help, but as I mentioned b4, I am not experienced with sofia, and not sure about architectural issues. What I can do, is update the examples in the refdocs and oxygen, so that new ppl can get get faster up and running... I could use web access for that. There are also uncommited patches in the sofia side as well...It took me a month of going through the sources with gdb, to figure out how to make the nua interface working. :-( What i would like to ask, is that if you decide to leave, try to find a replacement, or at least post access to the list. It is not the safest, but whoever takes over, can always change credentials... Nikos On Mon, Aug 11, 2014 at 7:51 PM, Michael Jerris m...@jerris.com wrote: And I am back! Sorry for the delay. Some time ago there was a similar discussion where several alternative branches of Sofia were mentioned but it was not clear whether it is worth moving to any of them. That discussion unfortunately did not come to any conclusion. See here: https://www.mail-archive.com/sofia-sip-devel@lists.sourceforge.net/msg04533.html As Andreas Wehrmann already mentioned, it would be great if someone from FreeSwitch (probably Michael Jerris) could join this discussion. Mike, could you share with us some details about status of Sofia branch used in FreeSwitch? It seems to me that it is the best maintained version of Sofia. I was already thinking about moving from the official Sofia branch to the one used in FreeSwitch. Do you think it is a good idea? Is your branch backwards compatible or do you see any problems in it? Regards, Petr Kuba Very interesting read. Thread started May 2010 and ended Nov 2013, just a few mos ago. Learned about the different versions as well ;-) Doesn't look like Mike is following this discussion. Can smn add him to it? It took only 3 yrs in the previous thread to join in, and i don't think we have that long this time :-( BTW, if given web access, I will be happy to update the examples in the refdocs. At least you won'tl be bothered by newcomers like myself ;-) I can check with sourceforge about it...
