I thought it was for freezing operators automaticity , Xsi would get clunky
real fast with a few modeling components. This feature was added to auto
freeze as you modeled.

Child compensation was added to get so you could move a parent node with
out effecting the children .

My recollection

There's an "Immed" button in that interface.. I distinctly remember that
feature being added to XSI at some point, like v2 or v3, it wasn't there
from the start, that's for sure. Such an odd thing to be in an early mockup
only to surface years later as an actual feature, isn't it? No Freeze
button either which is also weird if Sumatra was non-linear from the start.

Hi, another question about xsibatch.

Is it possible to run it vanilla without loading workgroups or plugins?

Is there anything similar to mayabatch?

I had to convert a lot of data from SI to Maya so I wrote something to
export from Softimage to Maya and applying some commands to clean up the
data and automatize the conversion. I'm using mayabatch.exe so it won't
open Maya's GUI speeding up a lot the conversion work.

Besides some problems like the log flag don't working if I use
 XSIUtils.LaunchProcess (I have to use WScript.Shell if I want a log file),
It's working pretty good, now I'm converting characters data to Maya
project folders with clean ma files without having to open Maya at all. It
would be nice to be able to do it from Maya to Softimage.

 Thanks,

 Martin

2015-12-14 Thread Matt Lind
"Immediate" mode made it's appearance in XSI v3.0 so the Maya users would
stop complaining about children not moving with the parent. The default
Softimage behavior was for the children to move only when selected in branch
mode.
