Because of the core of trax it could never do what the animation really
did, it was easier for them to develop an entirely new tool while not
losing some of the functionality that previous users needed with trax. It
works very well, some ways better than the animation mixer for sure.

Wowo! It's urgent that I watch all videos on this page. THANKS!
I saw this thing in Maya called Time Editor previously, but I
  didn't pay attention to it. So I closed it. How could I guess
  Autodesk would have developed a second animation mixer on top of
  Trax?? Why not upgrading Trax instead of adding another tool?
But anyway I'll watch these videos closely and test the Time
  Editor.
