Re: Transitional license & 2015 releases
Question 10 of the Softimage transition FAQ answers the question getting current in order to transition to Maya or Max. 10. I am on an older version and wish to transition to Maya or 3ds Max. Can I? To be eligible to transition to either 3ds Max with Softimage or Maya with Softimage you will need to upgrade your software to the latest version of Softimage using standard Autodesk upgrade paths. Versions older than 6 versions back are typically not eligible for upgrades and other limitations may apply. Once you have upgraded to the latest version, you must also purchase a Subscription contract to gain access to the transition offerings described in question 5. Please note that after February 1, 2015, Autodesk will no longer offer software upgrades for purchase for all of its software products. Also for having to use a reseller, you kinda have to, because you canĀ¹t get the upgrade or Subs via the online store anymore. (For Softimage anyway) G On 09/04/2014 19:29, "Leendert A. RE: Transitional license & 2015 releases
Just contact a reseller, it doesnt have to be a specific one. Every will do. You don't need to be on sub, a valid license is enough to upgrade (maximum of six version back, so 2009 and up). You have time until Feb 2015 if you're not on sub. sven -Original Message- From: softimage-boun...@listproc.autodesk.com [mailto:softimage-boun...@listproc.autodesk.com] On Behalf Of Leendert A. Re: Transitional license & 2015 releases
Okay, thanks. So this simply means, that I have to contact my reseller and not have to wait for the reseller to contact me? It does seem a bit inefficient to use the reseller network for this, when AD could easily gather all data globally (through the subscription center?)... Greetz Leendert -- Leendert A. RE: Transitional license & 2015 releases
Hello Leendert, You need to go through a reseller and chose either the Max or Maya flavor of this bundle. Then the reseller will process the transaction. It is $0 if you are current on Subs. If you are not current, there is a cost to transitioning - talk to your reseller to determine the cost in your particular situation. Once you have transitioned, there is nothing special you need to do in terms of licensing. In transitioning to the bundle, you get 1-3x back of Softimage (previous versions) as part of your Subs benefits. What happens to us Softimage users once the new releases have been made available? And how does this work for the licensing? Do we have to add anything specific to our license request to make our claims to the specific "transitional" license apparent (with regard to the ongoing "previous version usage")?
